There was a game on the PC and PS1 called Sentient made by Psygnosis.
It was a space station based RPG game that had about 50 different endings. I could never get anywhere, but it oozed atmosphere and was a bit ahead of it's time when I look back on it.
It was so hard I dunno if it was actually good though, it certainly had something going for it.

Weaponlord for the snes......vastly underated in my opinion
killer instinct 1 and 2 .....ok not exactly tournament games i found the combos addictive

Hell yes, this game is awesome, although you could blame this game for Rayman...........Plok is much better mind.

Rayman may look nice, but compared to the brilliance of Plok, it's in the same league as Zool.

What I really like about Plok, is the amount of imagination and intricacy that went into the design. It's got that eccentric British vibe to it- that is sooo rarely seen in gaming after the 80s.

It's sad that it's such a cult game.

Also D2 and Carrier are high on my cult list for DC.
On PS2 I'd add Firefighter F.D.18. (3D remake of a SNES game)

Anyone mentioned live-a-live by squaresoft on the snes? Really strange and interesting rpg made up of 7 different stories, one of which you don't even fight anyone! But its perfect story telling by squaresoft. I think its japan only though but I (ahem) played the fansub rom of it. Really, really niche gameplay.
