    Did someone mention 2D fighters?

    My faves at the mo:

King of Fighters 96 (Neo Geo, can't speak for the PS2 port)
Real Bout Fatal Fury Special (Neo, Saturn, PS1 as well albeit in a diff guise)
    King Of Fighters Neowave (Atomiswave/PS2/Xbox)
    Street Fighter Zero/Alpha 2 Gold/Dash (from the Zero 3 anthology, PS2)
Garou Mark Of The Wolves (Neo, PS2)
Vampire (Jp PS1 port is the tits)
    Capcom vs SNK Pro (Dreamcast/PS1)

Dude you need to get yourself a Japanese PS2.

If you're getting into SFIII: 3rd Strike I have a load of tutorial and master class videos of different characters (though sadly not all of them).

There's also a ton of JPN and US matches to pick up tricks and set-ups off.

The other game i'd recommend is Garou for a great cast and wonderful system.

The fact that Third Strike still gets rinsed out big time years after its release is a testament to the game's quality!

Please Capcom, give us a Street Fighter 4...

I know I just cant bring myself to get one at the moment.
I am hoping that if PS3's are going to be region free there may be a chance that I can get some of the Jap only PS2 fighting goodness then.
Failing that theres bound to be another impending price drop for the PS2 and I may pick one up then.

Unfortunetly i just find many characters just no fun to play its just a personal preference thing though

Marvel super heroes has been getting quite a lot of play recently

KOF 95 saturn purely for the memorys though as it was my first encounter with the KOF series imagine my suprise when i saw the pal version for sale

Oh i love the real bout series the blows when they connect just have this sense of impact that many 2d fighters (like garou mark of the wolves) just seem to lack

Why not get a JP DC instead? It has loads of great 2D fighting games especially from Capcom. Having said all that though, DC sticks are quite hard to get hold of nowadays (at a decent price).

If you mean the new PS2 game, no not yet, I have it on order with PA though. I've played the PC games, they're quality games. Through many patches they've become very well balanced and they're great fun in multiplayer. Here's a nice wallpaper.

Melty blood is ace I have the original and the react i have not tried the final tuned version but i gather its suppose to make it closer to the arcade version.

The pc version did have a slight unfinshed quality to it (particulary the backgrounds)

Man, I finally opened the PS2 copy of 3rd Strike that I bought in Japan last September and I'm in love. I'd only dabbled with SFIII when I bought W Impact on the DC and then sold it because I was still in the thrall of the Alpha series (still am) but now that I'm playing it I'm really appreciating the depth of the parrying, super arts, and EX moves. Can't beat it when you parry an attack and use it to launch into a super art to finish off the opponent.

I'm still not a fan of most of the new characters but as long as Ryu and Ken are in there I'm happy. Of course the animation is spectacular as well, and is better than a lot of animated movies.

Yeah the characters and maybe the music are my only gripes. Twelve looks like he was conceived in about 5 minutes.
