Wow, what's Rebirth? I've never heard of it before. I know it's only a teaser vid but it looks like a shapey-ecosystem thing vaguely similar to Spore.

Originally posted by atrusTheres no way the Rebirth thing is running on Gamecube hardware, for a start, it has credits as if it were a short film, also it says copyright 2000 Nintendo, the hardware probably wasn't even finalised by then, let alone the unlikely event that internal developers managed to get more out of it than any developer ever would over the next 5 years.
I reckon it was an internal tech demo/CG movie (to show shareholders/board members), that showed what might be possible on future nintendo hardware, before the GC was fully conceived.
Beautiful though.
I think it's a real shame that they didn't include the Super Mario demo in box as a pack-in thing to play about with, personally. I wish companies would do it, pack in their tech demos with user tweakable parameters, slap on a warning that it's quite likely they'll crash if you bugger around with the numbers too much and just ship it.

Oh thats rubbish even the 360 and PS3 would have a hard time handling the graphics towards the end of Rebirth when all The roots shot up in the air to transform in a full forest , its clearly CGI just like the bullsh8t Raven X-Box demo.
I still say one of the best demonstrations of the CUBE was RS II , that game looks amazing even now

It's funny that I came across this thread because I remember thinking (back in the day) that certain SEGA franchises would carry over to the Gamecube rather than the XBOX.
I thought that I would see Shenmue III and the next Jet Set Radio on mini cube dvd's. I had some fan boy notion that hardcore gamers would flock over to the Gamecube and so the platform was right for those titles. I do still believe that Jet Set Radio Future would have sold more if it where a Gamecube title. It's a crime how it went out of print so quicky for the XBOX
