Beat em ups (1 on 1 not brawlers, they're cool ), Squad games, "realistic" FPS, Simulation racers, infact basically anything that tries too hard to be real hehe.

As a general rule I'll never rule out anything completely, and I'm more than willing to try an exceptional example of an unfavoured genre if it comes along. If I'm picking ones I don't play out of habit, though...simulators (plane, tank, etc), RTS, and the vast majority of sports games. I'm also not big on driving games (as opposed to racing games) into which category I'd put stuff like Gran Turismo.

forgot stealth, thank GOD the "espionage" craze has ended now. It was awful when every game was banging a stealth section in just to be cool :/

I think for me, I just don't tend to like games you have to put alot of effort into to start enjoying, I'd rather put a game on and be having fun from the world go. Though that doesn't nescessarily mean the game has to be "easy" per se, just fun to play instantly hehe.

God I miss "pick up and play" stuff. No where near as many games like that now.

                Serious racing games
                War games
                American sports games

Wouldn't touch 'em with a bargepole.

Japanese Dating sims and H(entai) games.

Closest I'd come are the numerous simRPGs that have slight elements of these games in them, but I'd steer clear of these they are just not big, clever or cool.

EDIT: Oh and probably Railway Sims aswell.

Any of those crap political / counter terrorism bore fests like Ranibow 6, Splinter Cell, Ghost Recon etc.... I like games with a bit of fantasy, humour, imagination etc...

RPGs: I just hate story based games altogether and have no patience when it comes to reading screen after screen of dull text. I've tried many times with different examples of the genre and rarely get more than ten minutes in before I say right this is overblown childish twaddle and whip the disc out.

Whatever genre the Gran Tourismo games belong too, way too serious and adding virtual skirting boards and ivory gear-knobs to cars is not my idea of gameplay. I prefer just a couple of cars that always stay the same with the emphasis firmly on the racing, examples such as Daytona or Outrun.

3D fighting games, beacuse they'll never come close to the perfection of the 2D genre despite how smart they may think they are. Tekken / DOA / Virtua Fighter etc.. are all garbage in my eyes and only serve to eat into the time that should be spent perfecting 2D skills.

for me its RTS, American sports/Golf and whatever GTA is. Generally speaking though Im pretty broad on my gaming. I would have added Shmups to that list too but Ikaruga is starting to 'click' with me...

                          FPS
                          RTS
'Sandbox' games (What an awful term that is btw)
                          Nonsense like the Sims
                          Stealthy MGS/Syphon Filter type guff
                          American Sports Games
                          American Driving Games
                          American RPGs

Arcade style action games are my only real interest.

I honestley cant right off any genere's of games no matter what the genere or subject matter, for one i never thought i would own a cheerleading game but then i would of missed out on ouendan, if i wrote of strategy i would never of played pikmin or advance

I could carry on and list games from many genere's that have suprised me or have hooked me like i never though possible, one things for sure i dont want to write any genere off completley i wouldent want to make that sort of mistake and miss out on a gem.

RPGs, specifically turn based. The most recent attempt involved trying FFX International which is acknowledged to be one of the greatest and I thought perhaps give it a go in case things have improved. After 20 mins of resisting the temptation to hammer all the buttons on the pad in case one of them skipped the cut-scenes, I got to a random battle, where I seemingly targetted enemies depending on how close they were to me (couldn't think of any other logical way of doing it), I then died. Heheh. What a loser I hear you cry. Anyway, I started again, determined to give it another go. So this time I hammered all the buttons to skip the cut-scenes. Oh. Can't. Brilliant. So I wasn't sitting through that lot again.

I'll play almost anything else, but I can't handle the amount of button combinations needed to be learnt to allow me to play fighters. Games should be intuitive imho. Like Monkey ball / Rhythm Tengoku etc. I can certainly see the attraction of training yourself up, but I can't hack it myself.
