US Wii: Preorder Details Thread

I'm thinking the same Shozuki, but I've no idea where else to look tbh! May just stick with the DVDBO one and wait until my number's up.

I do have a UK one pre-ordered as well, but I really don't want to have to rely on that...

Like some of you here, I'm really late to the party, but I suddenly got the urge to play Zelda.

What are my options for getting a US Wii? There doesn't seem to be any websites taking pre-orders. Or ... some are, but it seems they've already taken too many. Do I have any other options?

There should really be a service where you could pay someone 100$ (or so) to stand in line at a store that didn't take pre-orders, and get you a machine.

I guess eBay is an extremely expensive way to go, but I'd like to consider my options, if there are any.

Please help me.

Hmmm, slim and none id say. The problem with online stores is that pretty much all allocation is going to be taken backing up to 2nd possibly 3rd shipments. Just stick with it though seeing as we have no confirmation of supply amounts you could get lucky.

there's a pretty promising thing on their wii page stating 'Pre-Order will ship on release date 2006/11/20'
but more than likely to be false information :/

Just an interesting tidbit from the store manager regarding stock at the Nintendo World Store at launch (courtesy of gonintendo.com)

?(Concerning Wii launch units at the store) (There will be) enough for walk-ins as well. I?m not expecting to sell out on Sunday. Monday ? no promises.?


Hopefully this is a sign of plentiful stock across North America and Canada. Something to ease your pre-order blus :P

I've just watched the IGN weekly no30 where they show the Wii interface...

Not as exciting a video as I'd hoped for! Goooo settings! Certainly the way that the parental controls work suggest that multi-region games would mess it up. And this number system for friends, ugh, would it be that troublesome to replace numbers with a gamertag type thing? Still, much better than one code per game at least, so a step in the right direction

for the record, and comparison, wewere on DVDBO-watch on the day they put their PO's up.

I preordered within 3 hours of them going online, and i also got one of these emails, despite being told by a bloke called Chris on live chat that they knew their initial allocations, and could cover all preorders (this chat was literally a few days ago).

That's DVDBox Office for you. They're very unreliable now and it's the kind of behaviour that led people to stop using them en mass.

They tend take peoples orders and keep them hanging (as explained by others when people first talked about using them in this very thread).

Not wanting to worry or upset people who've place orders with them, but you could be waiting a long time for them to pull their fingers out and source one for you (and that's even if the Wii is in great abundance when it's released).

Hmm, i've ordered my games from dvdboxoffice so they best not let me down. I got all of my 25+ GC games from them and never had a problem so heres hoping I guess.
