      4) Quit online
      5) Reset country to US (will require reaccepting the T&C)
      6) Go back online and buy games!

And yes, what language you use is set independent to the country you say you are in.
Thanks for this post, I can now buy some VC titles at cheapo prices.
Never played SNES castlevania before, here I come.

Quick question as my US wii is currently zooming around on a DHL van, anyone know when they are releasing the doohicky that allows you to go online if you have a wired modem? Virtual console and gigher memory cards are all off limits until i can get it

Plus my Keene component to RGB converter is out of stock and will take 4 days to arrive, nyarg!

Do you mean the LAN adapter? if so, Playasia have the Datel one in stock.

Bought it directly from the Codejunkies store, and it works like a charm. You have to plug the little thing into the first USB port you spot with the console turned off, and select wired connection when you first set up net properties.
The Wii was smart enough to connect to the router DHCP and through two switches (ah yes, some serious LAN maddness in my house) and the best thing of the Datel adapter is that it comes with Tx/Rx leds. The adapter uses a standard RJ-45 10/100 port, cannot confirm about Gigabit capabilities as I don't have any Gigabit switches.
Still don't understand why Nintento didn't include an ethernet port, but at least it's very easy to set a wired connection.

Well, the old SD tv i have displays NTSC signals as b&w. The US Wii outputs component and S-video (rather than the UK Wii's component and RGB). Since my tv has no s-video support (and s-video though scart does not work) the only option is RGB via scart. To get that from a US Wii I need to buy a component cable, run it through an RGB converter and feed it into my scart socket. I think gunrock has done the same thing, but I can't be sure. Watch this space for updates!

Now i'm off to hunt the thread for all the questions everyone else has asked when they got thier Wii's ages ago, such as "which memory card" etc etc.

Well, I'm playing through composite at the moment. On my 40" LCD TV. It's fine for Wii Sports, but I've held off playing Zelda (can you believe it)...I've orderded a component cable from Play Asia - came to under a tenner. Just need to get another remote now.

Can I ask which component to RGB converter you purchased?

this one, but it hasn't arrived yet so I can't vouch for it's quality...

Worth keeping an eye on Videogamesplus.ca from now on - they just had US Wii's + Zelda bundle in stock; worked out at £196 including shipping. Were sold out in a flash though.

It was only in stock for a few minutes so you have to be pretty lucky to get the timing right - I was trying to post a link here so that people could get in there, but by the time I'd posted they were already out :/
