Well 480p isn't technically Hi def but it's better than Standard definiton and can't be achieved through scart, s-video or composite connections.

I have just checked the Virgin Megastore in Glasgow city center. Apparently, they have started to take preorders for the Wii. You basically pay 30 quid upfront (as opposed to ?20 in all other retailers), not guaranteed a machine on launch day and with no bundles/packs that they know off. And if you thought that was bad check this: that ?30 you've just paid? Not refundable!

They might as well just put up a sign with "pleeeezzzee dont preorder from us!"

I have no doubt that we will end up paying ?40 for PAL games in most places in the High Street. You only need to look at the shocking DS prices ?29.99 and even ?34.99 in some place - I have not yet purchased a DS game from anywhere other than these forums or my local Crime Converters!

Choices online have games for ?29.99, with the current discount code 666 you get 6.66% off, so about ?28 a game. They had some mispriced games yesterday and many could be had for ?26.00 a game!

My ?20 deposit has been down for a while but I haven't been thinking about wii at all. Having just read through the supplement with Edge this month I am absolutely GAGGING to get my hands on the thing and give it a try.

Wii Sports looks absolutely sublime. That & Zelda to tide me over I think

Nice. I think from this and Edge's comments in the supplement it seems 480p is a cert for the UK (Woo!) andthough of course time will tell....

I'll be picking the cable up from Game when i get my console on launch day, assuming they have them.

I know the Dev kits come supplied with component cables, it's down to the dev if they decide to put 480p or not though.

I put down 20 quid at the local gamestation back in september,but im kind of worried that i'll miss out there because of this being a student town and gamestation being right on the corner of the main street rather than all tucked away, everyone else will have had the same Idea, so i just put an order in with woolworths, whose preorders only opened this weekend. Know a guy who got a 360 at launch with no bother through woolworths so im feeling much more secure with that order.


Shame i have a bloody lecture and tutorial from 10am-12 i cant skip on the morning of the 8th, AND an ICA handin for the same day. This is the first time ive bought a console at launch so im really scared that i wont get one, and those prescious possible 'running round town looking for stock/ turning up and buying the thing' hours being taken up by uni arent helping XD

Play.com have sold out of there pre order stock, woolies (whom I work for) are still taking orders. I`ve had a lot of questions from people about the ammount of consoles will will get on December 8th, and after speaking with EUK the simple answer will be little or none. As the pre orders are being done on the woolies website instore and the public website. So when we hit the allocated figure the pre orders stop.
This was done with the 360 and worked realy well, so I`ve been told only a few people didnt get a 360 on launch day mainly due to credit card problems, lack of funds.
Dont forget when you place an order with Woolies you get charged the day the item ships.

If I were to order one off the website right now and get it sent to store would I be able to go and pick it up from the store on the 8th or would I have to wait? Now that Lik Sang have gone t!ts up and midnight launches/getting one the day isn't certain, I would consider this. Let me know if you would mate

Yeah - I'd also quite like to know this as well.

Have got one pre-ordered with Gameplay but am looking for a back-up just in case and, as there's a Woolies just around the corner from where I work, that would be ideal.

I'd back all this up, I pre ordered a 360 off of the woolies website before launch last year and when it was no longer available online that was it, launch allocation done. I received mine on launch day, absolutely fantastic.

Well, I took the plunge and it's all gone through successfully for me. Code AMXS1006 gets you an extra fiver off too. I hope I can go collect it on the day!

Do you pay when you collect it or do they charge your card and you go get it from the store with your order number or something?
