They should have made more games like...

OK, not sure if this will fly, generally my threads are failures But here goes.
I don't think this should go in the retro folder because people may well easily reference a desire to play an update of a game that they finished last year.

I was thinking earlier when I was bored at work that I'd love another game just like Flashback. I really didn't get on with the Insta-Death scenarios of Another World, but I really enjoyed Flashback even though it was fairly straight forward. Given that I'm dedicating a lot less time to games that are really long treks lately, mainly because I can't be bothered, I'm focusing more on the games that provide short sharp enjoyment in bite sized pieces, with no extended treks back to save points, etc.
So yeh, I wish they'd made another game like Flashback. Same engine, same controls, new story and puzzles.
    What's yours?

Bet someone says a proper next version of Super Metroid i.e. not the Fusion hand-holding game.

Transport Tycoon. Yeah there have been alot of similar games, but I don't think Chris Sawyer ever topped this, Locomotion came out 2 years ago, but meh, the balance of the growth was messed up and you ended up with huge metropolisses across the entire map far too early into the game imo.

      Maybe that's progress

I'd also really rather like a new Dizzy game, preferably of the calibre of Treasure Island or Fantasy World, instead of the more obscure puzzles of the later ones.

hehe, yeah but because the maps were quite small, it meant that there was very little in the way of open land and meh, jus wasn't as good as the original Transport Tycoon where it took alot of effort to nurture communities and there was a much better feeling of scale on the world maps.

Funny, I was thinking this earlier.

Turrican! There's not enough games like that these days, and everything about the series from tone, pace, challenge and playability was so spot on. I'd love a Viewtiful Joe style game based on something similar, visually VJ though mind, they should keep its run and gun nature intact. I also loved the shmup bits too, so yeah, in my perfect world a run and gun with the playability and style of Turrican with the odd shmup bit for me. We need more 2d gaming these days... it still has so much to offer.

            Flink.

Some game on ps1 called lomax which must be a followup but id like to see an improved 3D one possibly, kinda like in the same style as dark cloud on ps2

              HIIIIGH FIVE (^_^)V

Id love a new dizzy game but given a deliberate graphics tonedown to look close to the speccy originals as i hated the amiga 16bit dizzy look.

I don't think they would be able to crack it

There need to be more games like Ultimate Ghosts 'n' Goblins.

I don't mean exactly like that because I don't like my games to be maddeningly, masochistically hard, but I mean that they should bring more classic franchises back with that visual style. It's an unfortunate fact that 2D generally doesn't sell anymore, and also that many a top classic franchise has fallen from grace thanks to one too many poor attempts at a transplant to 3D, so maybe that's the way to do it. Fundamentally 2D gameplay with a 3D makeover.

Think about vertigo's Super Metroid example. How orgasmic would a proper 2D Metroid with the non-linear exploration of Super Metroid and 3D backgrounds and character models be? It would solve the perennial problem that Castlevania is suffering from trying to make the jump to 3D, as well.

Wish they made more games like secret of mana, that rare hybrid of the slash em up/rpg that doesnt take itself too serious.

I find that the majority of RPGs either go way over to the AD&D route and confuse new comers or are too simple and dont have enough depth.

The SoM formula is, imo, the best style of rpg to ever have graced the consoles.

More games like starfox 64/panzer dragoon 1 zwei and orta.

I really like those type of games

I actually thought about making a thread yesterday about a lost genre - space combat! I want them to do another Tie-Fighter, the single most awesome game ever. The satisfaction of shooting down loads of Y-wings in the middle of one epic space battle was so incredible.

Likewise, I-War, Freespace 2 and Privateer 2 - the genre needs to be brought back.

Where's Road Rash at? (I mean, a proper good one) I'd still love to beat a man off (teehee) his bike with a chain (teeheehee).

Also, i want more FIFA games (Teeheeheehee)

                            Sorry
