Ah Dizzy. Yep, got to agree with this. Dizzy is one of those games that would have been perfect for GBA. That little machine's potential was never realised...

Likewise, I-War, Freespace 2 and Privateer 2 - the genre needs to be brought back.
and colony wars the mission branching idea was great wish more games did that

Super Mario World - There aren't enough platformers that transcend the merely 'alright' bracket.

Yet another opportunity to big up THE LAST NINJA! It so deserves a good rebirth, with classic game pay mechanics. Sigh............

On a more modern look on things id choose....... the WWE No Mercy game on the N64. Yes we have Def Jam but its jus not the same as having proper wrestlers.

Oh a quick mention for the Devil may cry type games, yes we had van hellsing but come on......... put a bit more effort into it man..........

Anymore biohazard type games are always welcome!

Wonderboys; namely The Dragon's Trap, Monster World (Megadrive), Monster Land (Arcade, SMS)

              In that order

Bruce lee on the Spectrum for me

It wasn't the simple 2d platform game that got me, but the fact there was a second controllable player (Yamo) who's aim it was to disrupt what player 1 was trying to achieve.

Lego Star Wars 2 has unintentionally managed to allow the 2 human players to mess up each others progress at the same time but this is more of an 'un co-op' feature, would like to see more games that are effectively a 1 player game, with a 2nd player just there to cause hinderance.
Can't think of another game where the 2 player isn't either direct competition or co-op.

Another vote for Last Ninja. Or Head over Heels. Or any sort of isometric 3D style puzzle stuff.

Current rumours surrounding the status of the project indicate it has again been canceled

My trademark response ... MERCENARY!!! Idiosyncratic explore-em-ups for the win!

Was also just about to say Head Over Heels, but have been beaten to it.

You should try Zelda 4Swords - you can completely screw up the other players in that (you are meant to work together for the most part though)

                              Cheers. Damn it.

A Last Ninja game like a combat-orientated ICO/PoP (not DMC/Ninja Gaiden) would just be absolutely amazing coupled with the atmosphere of the original trilogy. I've been listening to Matt Grey's original SID LN2 score lately and it's still as amazing as ever in terms of composition (just as distinctive as Zelda/Halo/Shenmue scores imo).

Another link leading from the one you posted above.

Check the old conceptual isometric shots at the bottom.
