Metroid prime 2 has some stunning enviroments, only thing i hated was dying all the time near the start evey time i had to go into the dark aether world. But once you got the suit it became masses of fun.

Yeah, I think the majority of people still prefer the original. But hey, I am also one of few who prefer Majora's Mask over OOT.

Still, for the price it now costs it would be rude not to own MP2

Indeed most gamecube games can be gotten for great prices.

Its mind boggling that i can buy a fantastic gamecube game for like 5 quid or get a ****ty uk games mag for nearly the same price hmmm decisions decisions

No one's mentioned Mario Sunshine or Zelda: Wind Waker? Smash Bros shouldn't be forgotten either. And i'll second Killer7 and Tales of Symphonia.

The very best game though, would have to be Paper Mario 2.

Dont worry champloo those were automatically given as essentials.

Just if i list every hame it will be extremely long

Most 1st party stuff is essential.

Luigi's Mansion for me. Woefully underrated on release due to the clamberings for a 'proper' Mario game. But no game in the last five years has shown so much character and charm imo

My essentials would be RE4, F Zero GX and PN03.

My friend was so dissapointed by Paper Mario 2 that he sold his Gamecube in disgust and switched to Xbox. I found it pretty funny, he looked at the box in the shop, assumed it was a 2D platformer like Super Mario World and thought "yes, I'll have that". Imagine his shock when he found it to be pseudo RPG with limited interactivity, totally unplayable in his view. I told him he should of asked me before he bought it, as I tend to keep up with new releases more dilligently.

My essentials apart from the obvious RPGs mentioned would be Fire Emblem:PoR. Definitely a worthy addition to the series, and most of the complaints made against the jump to 3D are really more cliched than the content they are complaining about. Which can be said alot of the time by people who don't like RPGs when they try to play them.

Essential might be stretching things, but Cubivore is worth experiencing for its atonal music and its meat flaps ...

                            I'd go for:
Animal Crossing (for me better than the ds version)
                            Super Smash Bros. Melee
                            Resident Evil 4
                            Super Monkey Ball (multiplayer)

I bought it for ?11 brand new off play asia & had a total blast. I enjoyed it so much i actually played through all 3 times to see the proper ending.

& as a bonus the japanese version had an option for english voices & text which was a very nice suprise.

While not on a technical level to biohazard 4, it certainly holds its own for a horror game.
