No i loved billy hatcher but if i had put it on the essential list i would have been shot down.

Its a very good game but it suffers the same flaws as most sonic team games. Dodgy controls, true its not as bad as some but some of the levels are needlessly hard.

Woth buying for the intro song alone (^_^)

Having recently bought a cheap new GC primarily for Twilight Princess I'm very interested in what people having been saying here as I've also been picking up the handful of other GC exclusives which interested me.

Killer 7, RE4, Viewtiful Joe can't be included as, good as they are, they're not exclusives any more.

My purchases so far: Metroid Prime 1 & 2, Eternal Darkness, Rogue Squadron I, MGS Twin Snakes (never played the PSOne original), Resident Evil 0*, Resident Evil* (* really only for completist reasons) and Wind Waker LE (more for OOT and MQ than the main game).

I thought there were no more potential purchases for me until I read a few of the other suggestions here but (not so far mentioned) I do have Battalion Wars and LOZ: Collectors Edition ear-marked to buy if found cheap.

There are people here who'll hate me but, as an adult, I can not consider any RPGs or young kid friendly games like Luigi's Mansion, Super Mario Sunshine or even Pikmin essential under any circumstance etc. Gameplay is a separate issue but I find Nintendo style cutesy/comedy characters all extremely annoying. I even sold the console bundled Smash Football, at a very nice price, because of this (paid for a memory card and SCART lead).

The titles might not be exclusive anymore but they are all by far the "best" versions.

PN03 is exclusive and is certainly worth picking up.

That just seems bizarre. Your phrasing might get peoples backs up a bit ("As an Adult"- do you look down on me as childish then?). Your choice but your missing out on a heck of a lot of good stuff as a result.

The subject of the thread is what do people consider GC essentials. This is surely down to personal choice from amongst the recognised quality titles.

Games aimed specifically at young kids, no matter how good they are, just don't entertain me. Surely this is because I'm an adult. I recognise and acknowledge their quality but just because they're well made doesn't make them essential. They're not meant for older age groups so how can I recommend them for other adults?

@fallenangle - you might about it for completist reasons, but you have to get REmake on the Cube. Once you play it, you won't really want to go back to the original version! Better graphics, better sound, better controls, new anti-zombie countermeasures, about 50% more gameplay, locations and puzzles. And that's just the start

It is THE definite RE game to get...

Your being a bit of an ageist arent you, it dosent matter what age you are aslong as you enjoy it. Fallen angl i also take it then you hate anime as that must too be viewed as childish.

Its not about being an adult, its about what you enjoy, i will play any game that i enjoy as thats what it was made to do. Mario is not aimed at children but it keeps all ages in mind. As for RPGS there are some with some very dark themes.

Now about the reccomending of games. At the end of the day you cant reccomend based on personal opiion but if you feel the person you ae referring to isnt as bothered about something appearing childish but moreso the content of the game then surely you can say: "I hate this type of game, however it looked interesting so you might think of picking it up". I know of many games i havent liked but have reccomended to people i know as tastes vary.

and like you said - "Gameplay is a separate issue"

You are missing out on some truly great titles there, but people are all different i really think you should give classics like a chance though.

Thanks - in fact it's one of the games I have now purchased. The original was always my favourite of all REs - even preferred to RE2, in fact I found RE3 and later RE:CV a bit tiresome to be quite honest, put me and off the whole series. That's why I was a iffy about mentioning RE0 and REmake as must haves.

As regards the other matter - I didn't mean to seem critical of those adults who get entertainment from the types of game I mentioned. I was just saying that such titles wouldn't be on my essentials lists for the reasons stated.
