To be fair when i played RR7 i was so unimpressed i got the feeling it could have been last gen.
Of course the PS3 will get much better, i just say it as i saw it.

when i played it on sunday i didn't think much, but i've never really thought much of stuff when playing it like that in a shop/public place. i'd be a git if i ever went to e3
but on thursday there was one actually in our department (i was too busy to bother hooking it up to play but just took it out of the box and did silly things with it and nearly dropped it) and now i want one
i've been ripping into it in arguments with my mates but in all honesty i can't fault the machine itself i'm just really ripping into sony for a laugh.
it was the same with the 360 - i thought it was lame until i borrowed one from work and actually had it at home and ended up buying that very same one.
as for it looking no better than ps2 in hd, *anything* in hd is better-looking than ps2 (unless it's a ps2 game in 720p of course!) just because of the resolution jump.
not long now till i take the component lead over there and see ridge 7 as it deserves to be seen...Comment

in terms of wanting a ps3 now, it's just because a) i'll buy one sooner or later anyway, b) the linux stuff is interesting, c) it plays avc stuff outta the box unlike the 360 which is great cos all the hd tv programs i get are in that format, d) while sony hyped it into some kind of shiny black god, i like to think i've learned enough over the years to see through their bull**** and just take it for what it is.
don't get me wrong - my wanting it doesn't mean i'm prepared to slap down the current asking price, no way jose, but i don't hate it at all. i'm no console-hater

I understand about the Linux thing, personally, I'm going to wait until they've either confirmed that it's muchos easyos to get HD content on there, as well as games and all that through an external hard drive, and play it in a nice easy way too (through a Media Centre-type player), and for the ol' yarr aspect perhaps (well, emulators more than anything). Keyboard and mouse support would be very nice!
