Received what I thought was my Official Component lead from Play yesterday only to find they had actually sent me an official RGB Scart lead!

They don't seem to be listing the component lead now either...

I can't find the scart lead listed either...

My Component cable is stuck at the post office with a ?7 customs charge :0

It was sent from Play Asia ages ago and I should be happy that it is in the country. I thought it had 'gone missing'

I thought you didn't have to pay customs on items under ?20.

If you don't can I claim the money back?

?18 is the customs limit - you need to use the $ to ? conversion rate on HM Customs own website to see whether it was under or not. If there is a mistake you can get the money back, but it involves writing letters (with proof) to customs & the Royal Mail. I've done it once or twice before.

This happened to me yesterday, also from Play! I forgot to cancel it as I managed to pick one up on launch day.

I have never been hit by customs before and the amount charged on such a small item is disgusting.

What's really annoying is that they put a card through with my normal post and I have to go and pick it up from the sorting office. Thus costing me time and more money in petrol.

                Bloody joke

Customs fee + VAT accounts for ?3ish of your charge - the real extortion comes from the post office who slap on a ?4 'handling charge'.

A few weeks ago I bought a Mad Catz Wii component cable, but I've been offered an official Nintendo component. Does anyone know if there is any noticable difference?

ignore, I found my answer a few pages back

on a slightly different note... how do the old GC games look using official component cable on the wii with BC? Are they as great looking as with official component on the GC?

I'm thinking in particular Metroid Prime/2 and F-Zero... all of which look superb using component on my PW8 Panasonic on my NTSC GC.

A big thanks to Game online (Never thought I'd say that) for getting my official component cable to me less than 24 hours after ordering

And a big thumbs down to Play for sending me the feckin RGB Scart lead instead of component. Ordered it months ago and they still couldn't get it right...

I think this may have been covered already, but I'm gonna ask any way.

I picked up one of the PS2/3/Wii/360 all-in-one Component cables, primarily for the Wii. Arrived today, and there is indeed a slight improvement over the standard cables that came with the console.

However!..... When using it, I can't get VC titles to show video (audio only)... My (HD)TV says 'out of range', and I tried all 3 video settings (50hz, 60hz, 480p), all the same.

When I hit the home button on the wiimote, you can see Sonic behind the Wii menu, but not when the game is in play.

Is there any solution to this, or is it back to composite? :-/

What type of tv is it? I get the out of range with Gunstar Heros on my cheapy (for the time) Evesham LCD... but it's fine on the horendous expensive Sony LCD we have in the lounge.

                              It's a Mirai T27124-AB ( I didn't know who they were before I got it either!)

If there's no solution, there's no solution..... I'll forego VC for niftier looking Wii games. (Looking forward to getting stuck back into Zelda actually now I finally have component).

And thanks for the fast reply.

Apologies for the necromancy but there are some official component cables available at HMV's Oxford Street store for £27.99 (!) for those who are still looking for one- about fifteen left today at a casual glance. There's still some Wii Play and a couple of nunchucks, too.
