I love the look, atmosphere and music of FFVIII. There's much I'm not massively fond of and, at the time, considered it a step down in terms of content compared with the jam-packed FFVII. But I have played FFVII through several times, the last playthrough racking up about 100 hours and collecting everything in the game, beating both weapons.

FFVIII, on the other hand, I've played once. So I'm rather looking forward to going through it again.

I'm the same, can only remember playing through 8 the once on PC. Final boss fight with Ultimecia was a bit underwhelming too - hit her with 'The End' and the battle was over before she got her first attack off. I understand the spell isn't in the PS1 version though, so looking forward to fighting her properly this time.

Ive use maximus cards quite a few times and each time had the codes within a minute so I'l vouch for those too!

To be fair to 8 a lot of my problems with the game only came in hindsight. On release I played it a lot (think I completed it about 3-4 times in the space of a few months on release) and whilst I did have a few issues with it (the lack of reward for exploration and decent side quests) at the time I would have said the game was enjoyable. Only when I went back to it a few years a later did I actually think it wasa bit poor overall.

Conversely, X had the complete opposite effect on me. Played through it once on release and thought it was nothing special at all. Decided to go through it again back in 2006 and really gave the game some proper attention (especially the part of the game where the airship opens up the world map to you) and really found myself engrossed and realised:

          a. There was a lot of end game content there
          b. The sphere grid was a work of genius

In VIII's defence though, I do think the soundtrack is one of the best Uematsu ever produced. One of my favourite OSTs (literally every track on disc 4 of the OST is awesome).

There's a huge amount of endgame in the PAL FFX. Only trouble is they made it a bit too easy to run into the dark aeons in regular gameplay (which would be sure to get a quick gameover if you weren't looking for it)

Hmm found it, played until end of first disc area however now whenever i draw a spell, or whenever the enemy casts a spell, the game crashes....bugger, i was really enjoying it infact
