It's a difficult thing... if there's one thing you can say about Nintendo, it's that they're far more sensible when it comes to costs than Sony and Microsoft, making losses on hardware was never really an option for them, and lets face it, they were never really in a good position to compete with Sony and Microsoft on a technical level anyway, especially when it arguably has less direct impact on the kind of software Nintendo put out anyway.
But I do agree, now the Wii rush has died down, and I've since purchased a PS3 as well as gone back to the 360, I do think that a Wii with the same kind of pushing power as these consoles would be the best thing ever. It's very easy to sound like a graphical tart when talking about the benefits of HD, but there's no doubt in my mind that it adds greatly to the overall experience.
But getting back to reality a bit, Nintendo were just never going to offer that kind of machine at the price point and demographics they were targetting, the sad truth I'm afraid =(
