No real stinkers for me this year but many disappointments:

Red Steel,
Monkey Ball Banana Blitz
PES6 (360 version, where's that patch to put in all the missing stuff??)
Dead Rising

Looking forward to next year (only 7 hours to go) and the joys of Lost Planet, Halo 3, Mario Galaxy and Metroid Corruption. Can't see any of those sucking!! <crosses fingers>

Bomberman Touch immediately springs to mind in recent times. The one player mode is crap as always and the online play is so immensely sluggish because of syncing, it's unreal. Like playing a PAL version while walking through some treacle dragging a bus behind you.
Metroid Pinball is also severely pump.
Children of Mana and Final Fantasy 3 DS are also laughable garbage.

What? It's the best pinball game I've played in years. It needed more tables, but I found it highly enjoyable. (I don't think it was worth full price though)

I'm having a hard time deciding on my worst game of the year though. I hated GRAW after enjoying the last couple of games, mostly because the single player was crap (as with most Tom Clancy games) and online co-op (the reason I bought the game) was four tiny levels that looked crap, played nothing like the single player game, and had serious performance issues.

Metroid Prime Hunters would be my other choice, mostly because I'm so disappointed with the direction this series is headed in. Metroid was possibly my favourite game series a few years back, and I even really enjoyed the original Prime (though I don't think it holds up quite so well today) but Prime 2 was horrible and Hunters is atrocious. I can't believe Nintendo let this game out with the Metroid license, and if it wasn't for that there's no way it would have been scored close to 85%. (Gamerankings) Sure, it might have been a good tech demo for the DS, but it still looked crap, and played even worse. Nintendo, stop this 3D fps nonsense and give us a proper Metroid game, or at least make sure you're heavily involved in the development like you were with the original Prime.

I can only hope that Prime 3 is being held back to have Nintendo more heavily involved rather than let Retro do it themselves - they've already shown they don't know how to make a Metroid game after Prime 2; it's more than just having the right character models and pretty graphics.


While I didn't buy it, I'm most disappointed with Phantasy Star Universe. There are bits of it I enjoyed, but when you go back and play PSO you realise just how bad it is in comparison. If PSO was backwards compatible on the 360, I'd probably buy it again and pay ?8/month or whatever it was.

Oblivion for me. Couldn't stand the combat and the 'world' just didn't do it for me at all, the sky especially.

I've been very selective with my games this year, but after all the hype and positive feedback it got I was incredibly disappointed.

I would like to say I've played a few stinkers this year but I've kept myself away from them.

I'd have to say the Sonic demo, if only for offering up a worse camera than the one found in Sonic Adventure.

Another shout for PES 6 (360).

This game IS the ultimate height of lazyness. Broken on Live, extremely poor game mechanics that work on the PS2 version, yet don't work here. No wonder it has been heavily discounted in the sales.

Konami, you have alot to prove for PES 7.

Also nods to Monkeyball Wii and Elite Beat Agents DS. The latter isn't in the same league as Sonic, but it's still crushingly disappointing given it's heritage.

Jaws unleashed would probably be another contender for this title, I never got to play it though. At least that must of held some kind of comedy value unlike Sonic, which just wants to make me Cry
