I'm not so sure to be honest. With notable exceptions I'm not so sure that the PC is home to too many genuinely mahoosive games, and Microsoft are off to a shaky start with Vista at the moment - they're drawing a fair amount of bad press from the development community.

I was under the impression that they were to launch the same day and that each version would have its own exclusive content, but I've not been following the game that closely so my information could well be out of date.

Can't be bothered to read all the doom and gloom but why the hell would anyone sell an NTSC PS3 to buy a PAL one?

Is it for the white spines?

So why buy the NTSC one in the first place?

            Just seems odd.

That's exactly why I've not bought a US PS3 or Wii. Too much money to risk losing if things break. This gen of consoles don't seem as sturdy as the last.

I know I could post them back to the us but that costs a bomb.

Because he wants his PAL PS2 and PSone games to be backwards compatible with his PAL PS3 ... I have the reverse reason, want (in fact currently buying) a Japanese PS3 so that my Japanese PS2 software will be backwards compatible - tbh I may also purchase a US PS3 at some point so that I can sample all my US PS2 software at a higher resolution (standard definition looks pretty **** on my tv via the PS2).

fyi PS3 does not upscale PS1/2 games into higher resolutions, they run at 480p (machine deinterlaces them internally).

480p is better than the mess that some of my japanese ps2 shmups run at now.

PS2 shmups look ****ing dire upscaled, IMO. I outed my Japanese PS3 for a US one mainly for that reason and will continue to use my modified PS2 for shmup fun instead.

Why so many resells? For me, like anything really, if there's nothing to entice the player, then why have it gathering dust? My US Wii is bordering on being sold for that reason, haven't touched it since last year.

i dont think i would ever resell a console well a big name one like the wii/ps3

As guaranteed there will be stuff i would want at some point later on

though i have never really been a early adopter anyway. As far as ps3 goes backward compatibilty really will mean nothing for me as i have to much of a mix of usa/pal/jap ps2 and psone games.I would probably got a for a us version though as they seem to have games released long before the pal version

I have to say there is more PC/PS2/DC i am looking forward to at the moment i would rather spend money on that

I really dont understand poeple who do this anymore unless it was done because it was gonna be sold on for profit.

Maybe its the younger generation who, back in the day like me, bought a PS2 when it 1st came out only to be left with a console that I hardly used & when some good games finally arrived they dropped its price.
If you've been gaming for a while though & are still not reading the way consoles usually go (i.e. mediocre gms for about a yr, then good gms) then u must have just gotten lost in the moment of buying it.

I bought my Wii on launch day & am happy with it. With the 360 I waited until some decent games came out & a price drop, then bought it.
With the PS3 I cant see me touching 1 until it drops to about £200 (or maybe when hell freezes over!). So by that time there should be some cracking games out for it.

That's why I checked the purchase insurance on my Credit Card before I took the plunge and invested in a Jap 60Gb. If it goes tits up Lloyds TSB sort me a new one! Though, in my experience, if a consoles going to go wrong it's usually as close to day 1 as possible. So far (touch wood) I haven't had a single busted console that I bought on launch day. Not even the 3 Xbox 360s I went through back in December were faulty it's just that Microsofts' "Customer Service Representatives" were about as clued up on the dashboard update issues as my cat!!

Well, if i could bring myself to part with the ridiculous price i would, its not a case of not being able to aford it, its a case of not being able to bring myself to give away such large quantities of cash for it. In my (small) research i nelieve i will get a good deal in the Us for a 60 gig version when i go over in the summer. If it wasnt for VF5 id have an easier job holding back. Im on teh tip of collapse as a result.

But the reason i feel that peeps are selling is basically, the games not being in abundance, also the fact that they paid so much for the machine, theyd want to recoup most of that cash asap. Thus waiting for better deals and bundles in teh future.

I have to say other than VF5 and icon nothing else at teh mo grabs my attentions. I know my choice in icon being a killer app for me , may be strange, but im a sucker of those types of games lol.

Still, i can understand peeps reasons for selling, it donest suprise me how a lot more PS3s are being sold on teh forum as opposed to Wii's. I guess the prices plays a lot in this case. Maybe the cons far out weigh the pros in the ps3 case.

A big reason why people (in my opinion) are reselling their PS3's is due to the fact that most of the games that it offers are already on the 360 and by being on their are available cheaper plus offer an overall better online experience (Also the lure of achievements for some is also a plus point). That is not to say the PS3 is a totally "crap" console, it will definately get better with the likes of MGS4, Heavenly Sword and Devil May Cry, as always too you will get a few first party titless from Sony which will come from nowhere and be great games ala God of War, ICO, Shadow of the Colossus etc.

As for the Wii, I think most people purchase it as a sort of impulse buy but once they got past Zelda and the odd few games of Wii Sports, they felt slightly underwhelmed, so they sold it on thinking they will purchase it again once it has a slightly greater catalogue of games (like me). Again, the Wii will do well once the AAA first party titles are release such as Mario Galaxy, Metroid, Smash Bros etc....and again you also expect them to have the odd gem of a title that comes from nowhere to do well.
