Wii and PS3 - Why So Many Resells ?

Prompted by the high (very high I'd say for its age/price) number of these that are appearing for sale on the forum mere weeks after the sellers have posted in the impressions thread - What's with the high sell-on rate ?

I couldn't believe Goldsmith had to resort to this kind of price :

Scary !!! Must've took some loss on it just wondering why ????

I don't own one so I can't comment but there's an awful lot of people on here doing/done so - let's hear it - I'm thinking that maybe these people thought they were going to do the biz on ebay but have been shafted?

p.s. Before the SDF get in here with their "troll" stickers see here :

Id guess its cause people spend ****e loads on them right after Xmas when most people dont have all that much to spend. They got them, realised the good games werent out and werent going to be for a while so they sold them cause they needed the money.

Maybe one of the reasons why is because there aren't enough quality games out or forthcoming this year?

There's just not a lot to play on it right now. Really nice console, but nothing in the way of games, just like the PS2 in it's first year.

This will change and the good games will come, but I assume some people just feel they want to sell now, rebuy later.

But I thought it was region free with universal power supply ? And games will be cheaper from USA/Japan ??? Are you worried about it breaking and you being left out of warranty ?

Can't comment, I'm in for the long haul, happy with the machine and what it will bring in the future and don't really need any more money for what I'm doing at the moment.
I guess its down to priorities. You spend a lot and play the one/two games you wanted to and then realise you shouldn't have spent so much/don't want to play anything else for a while and seek to recoup investment while you still can.

Personally I feel this is a gamers curse. Get the OMZG must have hardware before thinking through the decision properly. The one regret I have is that running three machines at once (current gen) eats too much into the playtime I can dedicate to each system (especially the brilliant 360).

On the flip side it means I should only play the best of what each has to offer. i.e plenty of Gears/Halo3 and DMC4/Motorstorm and less of the Open Season and Gundam's of this world.

Lets face it, if you only have one system we all tend to splurge on games we don't really want. Gamers curse part 2.

There is simply not enough original content on the system to warrant the moronic prices. All the games I want for it at the moment I already have as apparently superior versions on my 360 - Resistance looks interesting I guess, but if GoW never won me over I'd probably regret buying that too.

I thought the backwards compatibility feature would be good, nice to see my collection of PS2 games in a decent resolution, but Sony have managed to **** that up and can't even match the level provided by the PS2.

But they knew what was out & what was due when the bought the thing ??? On top of that they've had unexpected bonuses such as the GTHD demo and the Tekken 5 download - Plus VF5 just launched ?? There's gotta be more to it than that I didn't really want this to be a speculation thread was hoping some of the sellers might enlighten us !

Selling seems daft as they paid over the odds specifically to be the first to own & play one - selling it on at a loss therefore makes absolutely no sense. I mean there's people wanting to swap them for Wii's and PSP's - seems really strange....

No none of these just have loads of pal ps2 and ps1 games, so we can then sell our chipped ps2 for some cash for more games.

Gradius V (JP) looks pretty damn nice on PS3 for my money. I would sell my JP PS2 if I got a decent price for it...

Furthermore I think the whole re-buy later thing is harder to justify these days. Prices WILL NOT come down any further than they have for either the Wii or the PS3 until at least one full year in the EU for both machines.

Selling a Wii now and buying one in 6 months time - it involves the same outlay of money for each transaction to my eyes.

One of the cons of being an early adopter with consoles is that there is a fair chance that you'll endure some dire times before enough quality games start appearing.

I sold my PAL Wii barely a month after I bought it and one of the reasons why is because after I was done with Zelda, I had nothing to play on it.

Well, I paid about £450 for mine, which is only slightly more than UK RRP. I saved hard for it all year, and always intended to get it as soon as I could.

My console is a keeper, I don't intend to sell it, as I have realy enjoyed stuff like RR7 and an loving VF5. But for people who don't have the kind of disposable income as me, I can understand keeping it not being important to then.

I kinda get that but imo that's the wii down to a T

It's very much a secondary console for me with 360 as my premier gaming platform - I won't be buying that many games for it but everything so far has been highly enjoyable (and I've still to finish about 50% of Zelda!)

Loving these new smillies btw !

I certainly wouldn't sell a console to buy again tbh!
