I've played this quite a bit on the PC, and it's a really good game. The problem is, it's not an arcade style "real" shooter like CoD4 so the style isn't that popular I'm afraid. I'd like to see a review by someone who has played the PC game.

I'd have thought it would be great to play on Live as it's very much a team game.

If it's the same as the PC you won't go wrong - if there are enough players online.

Interested to know if the 360 version needs a HDD or not, as the mega-texture technology uses a rather large texture on each map.

I'm excited about not having any kind of levelling up ranking system How lazy.

Oh my, I just read that the 360 version has no levelling up system in place, but PS3 version does. But PS3 fails in performance department... ooooh which to buy? I have 360 version coming...

I find a ranking/leveling up system adds replayability; which is good. However, without it people play more for fun, rather than to just level up. It's kind of like 360 achievements.

Good point. I'm hoping I may find good in it as I've not played the PC version beyond the beta, which was only a few times. Seems it is mostly marked down for the lack in content compared to the PC version.

On the PC, the levelling system is per game (which is between 1 and 3 maps depending on the Campaign settings) and everyone gets reset afterwards. It works well, encourages a good aggressive style of play and gives you powerups through the campaign. Like seemingly every system though, it favours Engineers who camp fixing things.

I tried the PC beta and demo ages ago, but didn't like it personally... this coming from someone who played Wolf:ET extensively. It just seemed overcomplicated in comparison, I wasn't keen on the large maps or use of vehicles, and the firefights themselves didn't feel particularly satisfying. A real disappointment for me, but to each their own.

Hmm, still haven't recieved my copy from Gameplay (apparently dispatched Thursday).. postman hasn't been yet today, so maybe there's still hope.

                    Anyway, I've found a positive review. A 360 review at VideoGamer.com

I'm surpried this got such a little look in around Here, I've been back into it for a few moths and it's one of the best squad based online fps out there, plenty of users still rocking it.....PC version of course.

I tried it a few times on the 360 but the community died really quickly, such a shame. Hoping that Brink has better success!

I tried the ps3 demo when it came out and the online was beyond laggy, probably why people gave it up so fast.

I would have bought this back in the day but I was told by a forum user that the 360 version was broken.

Seeing this thread spring back to life has made me realise how much I enjoyed the game (PC). Tempted to get back into it, it's such an amazing team based game. Like all online games though, getting into it years after release (or back into it) will require a bit of patience, as the hardcore spank your arse.

Pleased to hear there’s still a community for Quake Wars. I was going to pick this up a few years ago after getting into TF2 (nice to see a different take on the same thing) but was told I would never find a game so it would be a pointless purchase.

Will make sure to grab it in the sales. ;p

Gabe Newell commented about the ‘ultra hardcore’ gamer recently calling them ‘jerks’ or something along those lines. Basically says those type of people are ruining gaming and wanted to make them watch more ads to compensate for the negative effect they have - making people leave.

I’ll see if I can find the article and resurrect the TF2 thread.
