How disappointing! I'm sure it'll get sorted but how long will that take

Btw, please may I have some of your free stuff thank you please?!

dc-arena: it may just need moving, to the LBP headline thread perhaps?

        Yeeks...

When does it come out? If it's a few months then they would still have time to iron out the bugs and problems. Lionhead were like that with their development pre-microsoft owned, and as the main Media Molecule guys came from there, maybe they'll continue old habits.

Engine problems are often the last thing that have problems worked out of them aren't they?

Dont most games run like a dog months before release so no worries. I'm really looking forward to this still.

Everything I've read about about people playing it have been nothing short of amazed by it so I'm not worried

I said it had potential, but even the Edge guy beside me who was covering the little public showing of it, said he was shocked, and said the game had gone a bit backward's, perhaps it was just the e3 code wasn't great, but the Edge guy said, when it had been running on the pc target hardware, it had been flwless, and nothing like the mess that was on publiic display yesterday and today, and he was shocked sony would let people play this early ps3 code.

The game has only recently been running on actual hardware, and as it was debug code it had the frame rate on the bottom of the screen, and you wouldn't believe how erratic it was.

The game does have potential though and there is always problems when putting something onto the console from the target code, I appreciate that.

But people that have played it before were not actually playing it on ps3 hardware, and I just want to stress the diference from what you have seen so far, including the fact that the graphics at the moment, are nothing like those grogeous early screen's, they are not too different, but the texture's are alot lower quality, and for me to get this running smoothly all the time, some more compensation's will have to be made, even one of the development guys at the booth said that.

I still believe it has potential, but anyone hoping for this wonder experience, would have been really put of by the mes that i saw yesterday. I know nearly everyone who played it was. Also the fact that people just didn't get it, was there too, they wanted to playa cool platformer with sqack boy, with easy to make level's, but it's a long labourious process to make level's, and the fact that the main game is not even stable enough to show on ps3 hardware at the moment, says alot to me.

I hope they don't screw this up, as I am really looking forward to it, and just wanted to express my dissapointment at the current code. Just to say though, I still think the potential is there for this to be one of the greatest user generated experiences ever, but they have to get it right, and i think the balance just isn't there. I have read other peopl's impression's and some are saying blown away, and thing's like that. Trust me, if you had seen it live yesterday, you would not have accepted it the way it was, but there were the ravid fanboys there, who were just obsessed with sackboy, and I think those are the posts you are reading. The public in genral were very unimpressed, and I even found myself expalinging how it could be great, but they just saw something that was broken just now, and wanted to play a side scrolling platformer. Don't take my impressions the wrong way, I am just being honest on what I saw, and I am a fan of the game's concept in general, but when you see such code ion display, you cannot blame Ninty, sony, or Microsoft for not showing mch at e3, as the games need to be ready before being shown.

I stree though, this isn't bias or anything, I'm just commenting on the e3 code I played yesterday, for all I know, it could be working wonderfully by now, and alot of the bugs have been ironed out. But the Edge guy I spoke too, said October was optimistic, and even if it hits launch, then there will deffo be patches.

EDIT: Also some people are saying the games were running from memory card, I can't see how this is true, as no memory card's were in any of the both's, and the dev and edge guy said to me it was running direct from the hard drive.

A lot can happen in 2 months, especially that the E3 build is a few weeks old, wich means a lot of problems will be sorted pre-release.

I thought that the Edge guy you spoke to - saying October's optimistic - would have known that considering he's from Edge...? Those journalists would've seen lots of other games' development near the end of release, and should no how quick bugs are killed within each new build, with truckloads of contract testers doing playthroughs. All games are horrible right-up 'till release.

                    Erp!!!

LBP is the one game likely to make me crack and buy a PS3. If it turns out to be ****, it'll be easier on the wallet, but I'd much rather it live up to its potential.

I must admit, I was surprised at how such a small British team could make the PS3 sing and dance so much, especially at such short notice (when it was first shown at GDC 07). I don't recall any of the press mentioning that it was running on PC hardware, were they all caught up too much by the hype?

The fact that Sony were willing to show this in a poor state at a public event does not bode well. Maybe it's simply a old build or some simple glitch - stranger things have happened.

I hope it all works out - LBP seems to have more riding on it than simply being a potentially great game. It seems to have evolved into the torch bearer of Phil Harrison's Gaming 3.0 (even more than Spore). If it fails, it could slow down further development of user enabled content.

i can't see how it's true either, seeing as how PS3s don't use memory cards...?

I hope this doesn't turn out to be a case of hype killing the product. If it needs time then they shoudnt release it.

I have a feeling it won't be released with bugs and severe frame rate problems.

Kinda worrying if there are those issues at this stage. I thought they'd had it running on PS3 hardware solidly for the last year.

Some other guy who played it makes no remarks about the frame rate. And he drops one bit of cool news that will hopefully lift the thread a little - Stephen Fry does voice over for the tutorials

Cool to hear about Stephen Fry! First Fable 2 now LBP. He must be touring Guildford at the moment.
