The initial press releases did say PSN rather than machine registration. I did note that after registering on the UK PSN (I have a US machine) there was a small notice saying Blu-Ray copies were in limited supply.

Oh well, they have my address so I'll either receive a free film or some hired goons.

Just connected my PS3 to my TV via component, selected HDMI through the menu, changed input on TV but am getting no signal.

I've used a DVD player previously through HDMI without any problems so don't know whats going wrong here.

Any advice would be appreciated as I'm getting very annoyed here
Turned out to be the HDMI cable after all. Got an official one today and is automatically deteced.

Nice to see SONY still aint fixed this issue, i have had a US machine since launch (US machine) and it output via HDMI for a grand total of 2 hours!! Since then the ps3 decided to not output a HDMI signal anymore.

Try multiple cables, try different HD tv's, its no use. I feel your pain mate!

        Component for the win!!

I tried setting up the PS3 with a static IP on the router. Now getting a DNS error when it tries to connect to PSN. And all the lights were ot on the folding globe as well.
Since then I've put the PS3's IP in the DMZ on my router. Hopefully that will fix it or I'll have to try the OpenDNS fix.
I'll see how it looks when I get home from work in the morning.

i'm getting the wierd wi-fi connect disconnet thing, put the ip for the ps3 into the DMZ but still no joy.

Sony deny any knowledge and are giving it the usual phone your isp or router company.

got the 1.6 down in the end but nothing else.

really annoying as my wii and 360 are fine

Have a look here for a guide to the OpenDNS fix.

Could help solve PS3 connection issues.

I've never had anything other than HDMI plugged in between my TV and PS3, so no you don't need to use anything else in order to get it setup.

I know at least Oblivion US and Railfan JP have both been played on a UK PS3.

Yes that is true I can also confirm Madden 2007 US works on PAL machine. That's an EA title of course... known for being protected on 360.

Is there a 60hz option in the PS3 menu?

I posted this in what I think was the wrong topic. So I'll try here.

check your dns settings, if you google freedns ps3, there are various threads around dealing with that particular error message.
