Bought this today, and I'm loving it. Wasn't sure about getting another twin-stick shooter like this, but it's definitely one of my favourites. Better than Geometry Wars by quite a margin, and at least as good as Mutant Storm Reloaded, in my opinion.

Gone through it twice now (first time was just learning the mechanics etc, and took a few tries) and did the second in one go, with a score of 59.7 million.

My main complaint is that it loops once you've gone through it, as once is plenty, but you have to keep going if you want to get high on the leaderboards. Judging from the #1 spot, it's just like Geometry Wars and can go on for hours and hours, which just isn't fun. More games should do what Pacman CE did, and either have a time limit to get your best score, or something like this shouldn't loop.

Perhaps you could have two modes/leaderboards - one for going through it once, and another for going as long as you can.

Thanks to FishyB for recommending this! I am not a great fan of shooters but i am really enjoying it. Only on five and a half million at the moment (any tips on scoring higher would be appreciated)!

This is a steal, for a fiver!!

When you're first starting out, wait until any of the weapon power-ups go green (they go red > blue > green, and repeat a couple of times, then turn into points) and stick to using the default weapon. While the Gold Melter looks cool, and the Ice Smasher (may be wrong on the names) fires quicker at first, they send the rocks going everywhere, making things harder to deal with, whereas the default weapon just breaks them up without much momentum. Once you hit 100% with the default weapon, start going for the gold melter, and then the ice smasher once it's 100%. After you've maxed them all out, it doesn't matter which you get, but you're best to wait until it's whatever gun you're using as it temporarily powers it up to 200%.

When you're breaking up the asteroids, make sure you get rid of them completely, and don't leave any small bits - if you don't, you'll end up with the sphere covered in little bits which can get pretty awkward later on.

If you come across any extra lives, don't pick them up, and instead wait until they turn into a shield powerup. It has the same effect as an extra life, but you keep your multiplier. (if you already have a shield though, get the life, as another shield just has the same effect as setting off a bomb)

Get used to using the dash. If you're in a situation where you thing you need to use a bomb, use the dash to get out instead. You might still need the bomb wherever you end up, but often the dash will get you to a safer place, making it easier to get things under control again. (many times when you use a bomb, it clears enough to start other asteroids/enemies spawning around you)

The longer you can stay alive, the better. Don't feel bad about using multiple bombs in a row if you need to, as you'll probably end up with quite a lot of them if you're using the dash first.

Oh, and when you see any numbered asteroids coming in, focus all your attention on them. It'll usually count down from 15 or so, but if you hit them all you get a massive bonus. It doesn't matter what type it was you were blowing up in the countdown, switch to the first weapon when the bonus comes down to keep them all in the same place. (otherwise it splits them up spreading them all over the sphere)

Also, you get more points from 'Points' if you dash through several of them. Something to remember when getting the numbered bonus asteroids as the last one hold a shed load of them.

Gah, hate when you're having pretty much a perfect run and it all falls apart =( Had 6 lives and a shield and was on the second boss and managed to get down to 1 life left..

Late to the party with this one. Picked it up today and think its great fun. Can't get anywhere near fishbowlhead's scores, but hey, neither can anyone else on my friends list hehe

If I have one complaint its that I never seemed to be able to power up my weapons to full strength before finishing off the boss? Does that change on any of the other planets? Im pretty sure I picked up every powerup.

Is there a way of increasing the frequency of extra lives or shield bonuses appearing? Is it just down to luck?

My best score is around 19m, so clearly there is still some way to go. For the first couple of planets i tend to spend my time trying to power up the weapon most required for the next planet, ie level 1 go for the Gold Weapon, level 2 for the Ice one etc.

Bought this yesterday, ( forgot and left the PS3 running overnight ), and had a quick blast of it this morning.

Definitely found it played very well. The planet dynamic makes for an interesting game area, I particularly like the bonus stage stuff at the end of a level where the screen goes a bit mental with new stuff. It did seem to be far easier than Geometry Wars, I eventually had to suicide to end the game to get to work on time. I think this cries out for a 5 minute time limit mode ala the New Pac-Man game.

I'll definitely be doing some more high-score chasing.

I'd agree for most games, but this is brilliant! it's only a fiver and its worth every penny

Is it even on the UK store now? I was browsing last night and didn't notice either this or flOw.
