new posts

Even though it didn't sound like something I'd enjoy, you should all check out the Time Attack mode. I had left it alone for a couple of days, but tried it last night and it's brilliant. I thought it'd just be the standard mode timed, but it's not.

Thought I'd bump this as there seems to be a few people playing it again so people may have questions about the new stuff.

I'm really starting to get back into this now because of the Trophies which has surprised the hell out of me.

I have two that I'm really struggling with though:
      • Multiplier Hero (Arcade - Get 10x multiplier)
      • Shield Blaster (Arcade - Collect 5 shield tokens while already having a shield)
I must have played through to planet 3 or 4 without taking any hits but I don't seem any closer to getting these. Is it just a matter of not getting hit for long enough? Which planet are other people getting these?

I'd read online (Can't remember where) that the next add on gives you the option to create custom space ships which explains why there is a listing for ships on the scoreboards at the moment and a little picture of the space ship the score was earned in.

I'm guessing as well that if the ship you uses is important to the score you get that we may get different ships with different abilities in that update too.

I got shield Blaster last night, starting from the beginning (on easy obviously) got it around end of planet three. Doesn't have to be on one life, just in one game. Make sure you leave the extra ship dropped item until it turns into a shield (pink) one. If you keep losing the shield you have though this could take an age, you only seem to get one or two per planet until planet three onwards.

10x Multiplier, I've twice died on 9x, and both times it was on the fourth planet boss, others seem to be able to earn it earlier, it's down to the speed you despatch enemies/asteroids etc in succession apparently.

You can play on easy mode to get the trophies for arcade. That's the first way to make things, well, easier.

I think for the 10x multiplier you'll need to stay alive until the 5th planet or definitely late into the 4th planet anyway. The time it takes to go from a 9x multiplier to 10x is ridiculously long. The time I did it I just kept remembering to boost and bomb alot as one hit means it's over essentially.

As for the shield one I think I just got lucky on that in that on one planet they just kept appearing for me. Also if you see a life token don't pick it up either, wait for it to change in to a shield.

What I wanna know is how people are getting the 15 tokens in one boost!?

          Edit: yea, like Holliss said.

Token Hoarder - Collect 15 tokens with a single boost in Arcade
            Silver | Difficulty: Moderate
You will get 15 tokens in one boost if you boost into a bonus asteroid directly in the middle. To get a bonus asteroid, go to the beggining of any level. For this Trophy, we used level 2 because it appears very quickly. You will see a red icon appear with a green number. A rock will come down, and you must destroy it. As you destroy these rocks, the countdown will continue. When you destroy all the rocks, a bonus asteroid will fall down to the stage. Carefully aim your ship at the center of the green rock, and boost into it. If you did it correctly, you will get all 15 tokens you need. If you fail, simply press START and restart. You can tell how many you boosted into by looking at the text on the screen. If you see x15 somewhere, you got it. Note that it takes a few seconds for the Trophy to be unlocked. If you're getting close, but can't get all 15, you may want to try level 4. Align one or more tokens between your ship and the bonus asteroid and boost.

These two are going to be a right pain as it's one slip and you have to start from the beginning.

With the tokens trophies you need to wait for one of those special meteors which have the countdown. Keep destroying them in the time limit and a giant green rock thingy will land which will create loads of tokens when destroyed. Just boost through the centre of the big patch of trophies and you should be OK.

              EDIT:

              Yeah, what he said.

Got the x10 Multiplier one a little while ago.

Clearing the asteroids/waves quickly boosts your multiplier up faster but I just played carefully and earned the x10 somewhere on the fourth planet.

It shows how it's done (in theory) though, you must just boost through the middle of the bonus asteroid.

The Late Bomber/10x Multiplier/Extra Ships Optional/Shock and Awe trophies are all pretty tricky and could be very time consuming. I'm concentrating on the 10x one first, been informed to use the correct weapon for the type of asteroid as this helps boost your multiplier increase quicker. Though you still need to get to at least the fourth planet before it will unlock.

Am I the only one that wishes the rocks didn't have a gold tint to them? Always get confused which is which until the gold asteroids turn up and it's blatantly obvious.

I'm beginning to think that the late bomber one is actually impossible. Can't seem to get anywhere in it. After a while there is just so much stuff on screen causing pure chaos.
The shock and awe (kill 10 nukes) trophy I think is feasible with practice. Got up to 5 nukes done then got a game over but i had 25 bombs left... There comes a point in tryin to get that trophy though where I'm pretty sure you can't actually survive without constantly bombing and boosting.
