Mine started freezing yesterday whenever I tried to add friends. It would lock up and I'd have to restart it.

I'm hoping that it was something to do with the 30 million people on Halo 3 rather than anything to do with the hardware though. I've not tried it today in case it just dies on me.

i find its the msn messenger, if u sign it out it should help stop freezing.

Mines constantly signed out though and it's laggy as **R!R!

Only started when the Halo 3 beta came about though...

Mine doesn't sign into MSN, I disabled that straight away. I'm still getting the freezing though.

The 360 guide is really sensitive to bandwidth issues, live has been hammered since Halo 3 came out so most people have been having freezing/delays when accessing friends list.

              Thanks!!!

That's what I was hoping to hear. I wouldn't have bothered spending on a replacement 360, at least until they sort out all the hardware issues they have.

My 360 freezes every time I try to exit the guide, from friends list or messages. I got it to exit by putting a new game disc in and holding the guide button, (dunno if the button was needed as the disc boot may have triggered it).

It's really annoying when they update something to make it better, but it sh-a-gs something that used to work. Never mind, PS2 & PS3 are still going strong. Ooh, fanboiz!!!

Ugh, three red lights again. Last time unplugging the power supply fixed it, but there's no effect this time - I'll give it a go tomorrow but it's not looking good. Lame.

Probably going to have to pay for a dodgy refurb too, aye?

You could try the old cooling/thermal paste mods or the x-clamp replacement (as a last resort) unless it's still under warranty?

I got a core from Boots online to replace me dud rather than get a refurb - It's so quiet it's nuts and I SWEAR the colour is better.

When replacing a faulty 360 with a completely new machine, is it true certain arcade games can't be accessed offline despite having paid for them?

Yeah that's right, AFAIK. Basically, when you download the game it is signed with the serial code of your console (not harddrive). I understand you can call Microsoft up and if you give them both the serial codes (from your old and new machine) they will (eventually) give you a code or some such to fix the problem.

Just purchased a 360 with Crackdown & Dead Rising and playing on an SD 4:3 TV via RGB scart.
I have set the 360 dash screen settings to Normal (not widescreen) and PAL60, but these two particular games insist in running in a letterboxed format. Am I right in thinking that these two games were designed to only run on widescreen tvs only; or is there something funny with my 360?

Quite a few 360 games will only run in widescreen!! It's really annoying if you're on a standard TV and it shows them like that.

Cheers, guess I will just have to grin and bear it.
