lol, I'm amazed that such a warranty isn't criminal given the failure rate and the general ineptness of the repair workers.

Right ok I'm planning on sending my brothers dead 360 back for repair.

I went on to the x-box uk repair site and went ahead with the order and printed the order receipt. It say's on the receipt that that they will notify me when my empty box ships. - seriously you have to wait for an empty box?

I got an email from UPS and I printed a despatch label and printed a return label receipt.

I printed out the label, boxed my xbox up and dropped it of at my local UPS agent.

Ok got it sorted for a pick up.

Think I heard someone saying that the empty box shipment is an american way of doing it instead of the email despatch label we get over here. I think our method is better than waiting on a silly box.

I'm still only getting the 2 red lights. Is there any chance of them taking it in this state since it means a 3 lighter is on it's way anyway? I'm getting really fed up with getting 5 mins to do anything at a time.

I just told them mine had been 3 red lighting when it had just been freezing (used to red light on and off for a few months) and they took it and replaced it with a so far flawless system.

Just sent my nearly 1yr old unit off today due to ever increasing dirty disc errors.
I contemplated invoking the 'Towel of Justice', but decided it would probably result in me getting back the same POS DVD-ROM drive.

What I will be interested to see is if they upgrade the GPU heatsink while they are at it. It would be irresponsible not to I'd of thought...

Mine's suffering from the dreaded 'dirty disc' message syndrome too. Playing disc-based games frequently requires opening and closing the tray a dozen times before it recognises the game. It's getting worse too so will probably need sending off for repair. Again.

Had this message a couple of times when trying to play a legit PAL game (no scratches etc) on a unmodded PAL machine, any ideas ? thanks

If its just the one disc, then its probably only that disc.
I've only had that once and it was with a demo disc. I wondered if it was a bad pressing because inorder to get the message, the console would have to think that the disc is DVD Video.

I've had it on four discs in the last couple of months, press eject, then push the tray back in and it works on about third attempt each time, very bizarre.

                        Thanks for the reply though.

Traded in my Microsoft repaired Core 360 today for a HDMI equipped one. GAME wouldn't take it because the silver seal was gone (even though Microsoft had replaced it with another Microsoft certified lable with a silver strip)
Gamestation knew exactly what they were looking for though and no troubles. They even swapped the bundled Fifa Street 3 for the HDMI dongle.
After numerous phonecalls in Game they still wouldn't do it so i'd recommend trading at Gamestation if you're in the same boat.
They gave me £120 for the basic core machine with one wired pad. So it only cost 80 quid which is worth it just for another year's shop guarantee.

'Fraid to say that your DVD drives starting to be on its way out - the first signs are that message, followed usually by an inability to load/taking its time to load certain levels of certain discs etc.

You'll get a while yet out of the drive - if your consoles under a year old or still in shop warranty get it exchanged - if not, you can always send it back to MS when it finally borks but it'll cop you some money

Serious? you have to pay for a dvd drive fix but not the RROD?

Thanks Dannywhac, guessed it was laser/drive related, my machine is about 18 months old, it has already been repaired (by MS) for RROD, and for last few months has given a E73 error (nothing serious - Network Error related) a few times a week.

Apart from that it works fine \o/
