I just got 1 red light on my Elite. It works now though. What does that mean?

Think I found out what it was - the Hard Drive was loose. I must have done it when I did my annual polish.

my second console just died on me two years two consoles great cant even sort it out till tomorrow because the support line closed an hour ago.

has anyone on here had any sort of composition for the inconvenience because it looks like i will now be paying for two weeks of live that i cant use.

trying to explain to someone the technical issues your having with your console who are quite clearly reading form a script is quite clearly a recipe for disaster throw in a very poor grasp of English and you might as well be trying to explain Greek philosophy to a dead dog.

after one phonecall going through all the tests they make you do, unplug it, remove hardrive, ect ect and my xbox was quite clearley still not working i got the reply

[call center woman] well Mr Simon you enjoy game and have a good nice day, i will put you onto my supervisor to see if i did good job.

[me] err no my xbox is still broken

so i go through it all again and this time i get to send it back and get a replacement 3 weeks no xbox great

Serious freezing and then displaying the checkboard pattern on restart means the graphics card is finally ready to pop... but like some crazed Deadite bitch it refuses to red light.

My second one went red ring bye-bye tonight. Marvellous. Amusingly, I had downloaded the demo of Ratatouille for my girlfriend to play (don't ask). She booted the machine, started to play and it froze immediately. I turned it off and back on and there they were, blinking away like the three witches from Macbeth. My girlfriend was mortified. She was convinced she'd done something to break it. Ah, well. Rang MS, got the UPS stuff. It's still in warranty though, bought online from Boots, so gonna call them tomorrow to see if I can just take it into a store and get a replacement via them.

Just do what everyone else in your case seems to do and buy a replacement from Tesco or somewhere that won't scrutinise the return like a hawk. Put your replacement in the box and take it back for your refund.

17 months old. A ripe old age for a 360 especially considering it was showing signs of GPU failure 12 months ago.

Sigh.

So anyone know if MS are sending out repairs with the new Falcon chips or are they still chucking out the old stock?

When I sent mine in for repair in November last year, I initially got my original serial number back with new mobo (and heatsink) and when the DVDRom was still faulty, I got a new 'un back with a manufacture date of Sept 07.

I imagine MS will continue to recycle Xenon stock until they're blue in the face. That Xbox team insider dude said that exact thing.

Well my second 360 has now just packed in. No red lights like the last one, but the disc drive is saying 'unreadable disc' all the time. I can play Arcade games fine as the dashboard is working fine, but cant play any 360 games or dvds.

Really annoyed as ive only had this one since september.

What should I do now. Moneys a bit tight at the moment so Im not sending it away to get charged ?80. Should I just towel wrap it until the ROD appears?

You wouldn't be charged anything as it's not a year old so well within its warranty. If I was you though, I'd take it back to where you bought it from and just get them to replace it.

I was told when I phoned up that I get another three years on the refurbished machine against RROD and another year against anything else going wrong with it.

Got my machine back today with a MFR Date of 2005, was hoping for a nice HDMI one
