not if its over a year I ordered from dixons online at launch. Now there arent any stores around here anymore anyway (i doubt the currys digital will take in a 14 month dixons order, even though they are technically the same company)

Unbelievable, was playing Rainbow 6 Vegas last night (xmas eve) and after about 3 hours play online co-op the 360 makes a beep, then freezes, from there on it either gives me 3 red lights on start up or freezes within 10 minutes use every time.

Most the time, like on CoD it will always get past any intro and cutscene then crash just as your about to start playing, on Vegas I could get a lobby setup but then it would freeze.

What a time for this to happen

I feel your pain. Well hopefully UPS will arrive asap and pick up my dodgy 360. I'm loving my Wii, but I do miss my 360...

Well it's boxing day and it looks like my 2nd 360 is dead Got it December last year, had it replaced January this year and now its failed again.

No red lights, but the DVD drive is making strange noises and GOW split screen is dying almost immediately after loading. Brought the machine with me for my stay with the family and I'm guessing the travel has screwed the drive.

Had a bad feeling this would happen, strange though as it worked fine yesterday.

Time to call MS and wish them Merry Christmas

I've not been keeping up with this, so apologies if I've missed this - my 360 is working fine apart from when it's vertical the DVD tray seems to be getting stuck. It sometimes opens, mostly not...is this a known issue and is there a quick fix? Still got a few weeks left on warranty so it's perhaps best to get this sorted before it gets worse.

Not heard of that before but if you can go a week or two without yours, could be worth fixing for the long-term.

Not had any form of contact back from MS since UPS collected mine on the 20th. Could be another week yet with Xmas and New Year slowing things down.

Don't know if this is going to become an issue or not

My DVD drive has started making some funny noises with particular games - it seems to be ones that stream levels from the disc, like Just Cause and Gears.

Playing these there's an occasional sound like an electrical crackle coming from the drive when its in use. In other games like RS:V, Test Drive etc the drive doesn't do it at all.

Not had a read errors or other problems but I'm wondering if it's only a matter of time...

Yeah What grates is it was working fine yesterday. Played Gears for about an hour or so on Split Co-op.

But it definitely seems to be the drive, it's making unusual noises as it spins up and down. Might have to try a couple of titles that don't access the drive as much as Gears and see what happens. Hell, if it needs to go back I may even take the disk drive off and lightly thump it in case some thing has jumped out of place

Spatial that sounds just like the issue I'm having, is it causing Gears to crash?

Nope, haven't had any crashes or any disc read errors with it yet *touches wood*

I took my 360 with me when I stayed with the olds for crimbo, and when I set it back up in my flat yesterday it wouldn't power up. In the end, after much fiddling of wires for fear of a lose connection, I persuaded it to power up by giving the console a firm but fair slap on its side. That's the last time I ever, ever move £280-worth of games console!

I now seem to be getting random freezes with my system.

One was yesterday whilst playing Just Cause. The other today whilst playing something which doesn't even need to access the drive
