    My Elite has died.

The graphics went all corrupted and pink. Now it won't even give me a display but I can still hear sound. Gonna get it exchanged for a brand new one tomorrow and get rid of the lot.

My Wii got a fault only last week as well!

Time to dust off the PS3.

I got it swapped over at Game.

Haven't got the heart to get rid though. Love hate relationship innit.

Aye - it's slightly flawed hardware is far outweighed by it's corkin' software
By far the most played current-gen console I've had bar the SNES....

Since I've had GTA4 I've been having sound drop-outs every once in a while, lasting a few seconds. I'm running an Elite with the breakout box, optical to 5.1 amp.

Today, turned on 360, got sound as the logo came up. No sound in game at all. Changed games, the same. I get sound through the HDMI lead in the TV, but not the optical except at start-up. Very strange.

Can't find the receipt, so going to call Gamestation really nicely....

This will be my fifth ****ing machine.

Seeing as there's so much confusion and misinformation regarding whether Microsoft will repair an Xbox 360 that has been tampered with, I thought you folk might like to know I sent my 360, which was suffering with a faulty drive, to Microsoft for repair a couple of weeks ago with a broken seal, prominant marks on the rear clearly indicating the machine had been opened with a homemade key, and several internal modifications implemented to reduce heat build up and redirect airflow - carried out by the now deceased 360repair.co.uk - and the console was returned this morning fully repaired complete with a new Microsoft seal under the faceplate.

Class - got a new Elite this morning and in less than 3 hours the crappy thing red ringed.
Taken it back to game and after having to quote UK trading laws for 30 mins got my money back.
Think I`ll wait for the xbox 720.
360s are now banned from my house.
              What a load of ****!

It's a joke isn't it? I've migrated to the PS3 for the time.

I've never, ever heard of such an unreliable home product ever. I'm not talking games consoles, I'm talking anything. The whole ****ing lot needs to be recalled and MS need to admit there is a serious issue with ALL machines. They're all going to break. I don't believe they've made one reliable 360 out of the millions shipped.

I'm not too impressed as you can tell.

I moved my 360 from a horizontal to vertical position whilst GTAIV was in it. I heard a nasty scratching sound. Now there's perfect halo towards the edge of the disc. GTA will not load past the loading slides. Gutted. Is this a known problem?

I think MS have covered their back by putting a warning in the manual about not moving the console whilst switched on, disc inserted etc.

Maybe Gamestation could polish it out for a couple of quid?

There was a warning rushed out after launch because people had this problem. I would take this as a serious life-lesson: do not move an electronic device whilst active! The disc is not fully secured in place...

As has been said, if the scratch is only superficial, you may be able to get a games shop to fix it for you. Also, check that it isn't just a scuff by giving it a proper good cleaning with a cloth.

MS do a disc replacement service for MS-published titles (so probably not for GTA); other publishers may have a similar scheme. MS charge £10!

                        Bah. Sounds like I lose

Is that what this image represents?

Well, there goes Xbox number 4. Obviously the Elite fixed bugger all.

Was bought from Game so going to try and get it replaced. Don't have the receipt though....

(three of the four consoles have failed just as I'm stuck in the biggest releases too, first Oblivion, then Halo3 and now GTA4)

Did you buy it with a Credit / Debit card? If so get a copy of your statement and that'll work as your proof of purchase. Or, if you used your Game reward card you can call customer services and they can bring up your purchase history.

I've just been down and they told me the Reward Card information isn't held for very long, though i may try customer services to see if he was lieing or not. Yeah it was put on debit card so may try that too....
