Your stalking powers serve you well once again Mr H.

First US one, MS were happy to replace the system for a brand new one (US model too). When that one died 18 months later they treated me like I was the forbearer of the Apocalypse and told me point blank they wouldn't fix it due to a `policy change`.

dannywhac on here repaired mine in the end and a super job he did of it too.

Mine was dying within a minute of turning on, so I booked it in. The UPS guy has picked it up just now, so fingers crossed.

The girl on the UPS phone asked me the parcel weight. I said I didn't know but it's an xbox. She said "Oh, I know exactly how much those weigh." The blokey picking it up said "We do LOADS of these"...

Yep think 360's account for half of UPS's UK turnover bloke that collected mine said exactly the same thing Charles.

The guy who delivered mine back the first time said "Here's your Xbox back!". When he collected it a few days later, he said "Another one that didn't last very long then!". When he delivered it back, he said "Lets hope this one lasts I bit longer!".

Let us know how you get on Charles. MS told me to poke it, as mentioned, what with it being a US model.

Had an argument with the fella on the phone, as he said as it's a US console, and 80% of my games are Pal versions, i must have modded it.

Anyway, with no one to turn to, i fixed it myself. First of all did the x-clamp replacement, and it lasted another year, then died again recently.

After researching (a lot!) on x-box scene, i have since reflowed the solder under the cpu and gpu, fitted whisper fans, created an even flow from the fans (as standard, the cpu gets about 70% of the pull, and the gpu very little), removed the rear grill to increase air flow, left the inner metal lid off, added a mesh window to the top, just above the cpu heatsink, then fitted ethernet link and activity leds to the front. Once investigating, you realise how badly the console does a job of dispersing it's own heat.

Fingers crossed for another year, but for a US launch model it's had quite a stint already.

                What the deuce?

Seems my 360's having a few sound issues - my amp is telling me that it's switching between PCM, then Dolby Digital depending on what if feels like when you start it up. The sound keeps dropping for a split second too.

God if it's not one thing, it's another.

MS customer service just said the 3 year warranty only covers if it has a RRoD...

So, i've resorted to covering the console with a towel. It's getting bloody hot and should eventually red ring itself. Anyone else tried this?

It feels like i'm suffocating a baby...

"I love you! But I must kill you!"

Friend of mine tried that recently (the 360 not the baby you sickos!) because it kept freezing and it just wouldn't red ring no matter how hard he tried.

3 year warranty only covers the RROD yes. It's not as easy to get it to RROD as the web would have you believe unfortunately.

Does anyone know if an import console breaks down would MS repair it at a charge?

They wont. What's wrong with it?

Have you got three red rings?

I've got a PAL console with insurance from GAME, that's fine, but I want to get a JPN 360 but I feel it will probably eventually break down.
