Cool that you got your system back - sounds like it's a bit hit and miss if they'll repair a non-PAL one then. Bastards.

Still I can't complain too much as mine was repaired quick, painlessly and cheap

Welcome to the 360 noise lottery now though. It's probably a combination of the refurbished bits that makes it sound like that.

Wow, well done. Does seem really hit and miss. Weren't taking mine for any money.

Have you noticed the fans stay on longer at all, after shutdown?

I think I'll do just that.

Can someone please help me find the part in the Sales of Goods Act (1979) (amended) which says I'm allowed by law to take my 360 back within 6 years if it's developed a fault.

As I may need this as proof when I return it to the store.

Just reading through them Malc, bloody confusing to be honest, and as yet can't find anything relating to the 6 years.

That's because it doesn't say that.

The Act is generic and non-specific because it covers every possible thing you can think of selling and this range of things will have have a natural lifespan of a few days (something like an apple), right up to to goods you'd expect to last a lot longer (a car / TV).

What is says is that you have six years in which to make a claim to the courts if you felt something sold to you was faulty. That means usual no more than the cost you had to incur in getting the item repaired / replaced.

But after six months the burden of proof reverses from the retailer, who must initially demonstrate that the item sold to you was not faulty, to the other way around. In other words, if it breaks after six months you would have to demonstrate the item was sold to you in a faulty condition - not something that would be hard to do with a 360 since it's an inherent fault and you could pull printouts of any number of internet forums spanning pages and pages.

Plenty of retailers (i.e. Comet, Currys) will tell you to get stuffed even if you know the Sale of Goods Act inside out.

Too true. It's how much trouble you want to go to in proving a point versus how much they care about the fuss you're making, unfortunately.

Hmm, my wireless controller has developed a strange fault. It says that it's fully charged, but it won't turn on unless it's plugged into the charging cable. Any ideas?

I've seen this before. That's why I buy consoles in Gamestation. They've been superb when I've returned in the past, full credit to them. The guys in the Brighton shop have always been really helpful

Have you been using the quick charge kit by any chance?

My battery pads are all screwed one way or another - two won't hold their charge at all while the third will only charge via the play and charge kit (but it holds power for much longer).

Yeah it's the play and charge kit I'm using. It won't hold any charge at all. Think I'll have to buy another battery.

                              All batteries do this eventually.

Just in case it helps though, I heard Comet have the coloured Play-and-Charge battery packs on clearance for a couple of quid each if you order online and pick up in store. And don't mind having a two-tone controller of course.

You do know that inside the battery packs are just normal rechageable AA batteries?

On a side note, my 360 has been returned ten days after i sent it offf with the drive and the motherboard replaced. Pretty chuffed about the speed of that.
