Hasn't happened on my machine, but I've had two friends experience the same issue. Shocking really that the drive can damage disks in such a way.
Did your mates have their machines Horizontal or Vertical? What games were they etc?

The games I hear that like to break the most are anything EA, of PGR 3 - which may or may not be a cheap media issue. I found that my copies of PGR 3, Kameo and DOA4, seem to be much better quality discs than my NFS, Ridge 6 etc

Mines the same drive as Boris's - Grey and can see that little green bit in the console below the drive. Never had a prob apart from one freeze on gotham. Is a launch console.

This is Boris's 2nd 360 i believe, Boris did you original 360 have the same drive? If you noticed.......

I'm thinking it had the black coloured drive in it.

Does yours kind of make a bit of a high pitched noise as its working?

Yeah me too, I'd never had any game crash on either of my 360s until I got DOA4 it likes to crash alot.

the green bit is just part of the eject button. it's quite groovy how it works - the actual physical button is on the board about an inch below, and it manages to press it nicely. gotta see it to see what i mean

So whos got what type of drive? And what problems have you had if any?

                  Comment

I've got the drive I posted a picture of (obviously!).

Only problems I have had have been 2 crashes - once in PGR 3 and another in Ridge 6 - Both times looking at Gamercards, which I presume is a known issue.

Other than that everything is peachy, if you don't count the fact my HDD was iffy initially (got it replaced) and my power supply also decided to blow up....

All good now though (Fingers crossed, touch wood etc etc)

the only problem ive had with my 360 is i cant get on LIVE. My router is incompatible, (RP114) so i need another that works, dont want a wireless, needs to be cheap. and 4 ports.

Well it looks like my 360 is about to flat line. Not used it all week, and trying to get a game on it this afternoon has been a nightmare. The machine runs for a maximum of ten minutes and then freezes with artifacts all over the screen. After the first couple of times it did this I disconnected all the cables and powered off the PSU, on reboot I just got the three red lights of death. Rebooted again and the lights have gone but the machine just contiues to freeze up

So what number am I dialing lol

Mine died a couple of days ago, whilst playing NFSMW. Unit powered off and wont come on again. Tried everything the help pages suggest but its no good, the thing is buggered, no fan, nothing apart from three red lights. MS are going to replace the whole Premium Pack for me. My power pack is well ventilated btw.

You don't have to send the hard drive though. Just don't send it.

U reckon? I was wondering if I could 'hold something back', and Ill be buggered if I have to lose those game saves (although I have ordered a mem card for this purpose), I could just not send it and argue that I needed the HD for the stuff thats on it.

The only thing is, Im hoping they send a complete Premium Pack in replacement (they said they would), including a new HDD so if I dont send them mine maybe I wont get a brand new one back.. Ive had a few crashes, also, if its caused by a dodgy HD then Id very much like a new one.
