Got my 360 back today (well a different 1 to be presise).

It was only collected on friday, so 5 days including the weekend is a pretty impressive turn-around. I got a free faceplate aswell.

Once i got past logging the fault with their appalling support line it all went very smoothly.

My fifth 360 has just gone pop

Ive had no problems at all with this one for around two months. Just finished palying Doom, and got the pink lines/blocks on the dashboard along with a nasty thud sound. Red lights of death on the restart. The last time i had to take a 360 back to Game the bloke thought i must be doing something to the console to be getting through so many of them. Im going to look a complete twit this time. I have the damn thing pulged into a surge protector and it couldnt have more ventilation if i tried. This one also has my debit card details i used for Live and Doom stored on the HDD.

I was going to give MS a call this time, but with the helpline sounding next to useless i dont know what im going to do. Im now at my wits end with this to be honest

Got mine back this afternoon. Actually got a new one. How can you tell when it was made? All I can see is that the serial number is different.
Should this be registered as well then?

Oh yeah, nothing free but wasn't expecting anything.

Just got off the phone from customer support, and as i thought it was a waste of time. The woman could not seem to get my address correct no matter how many times i told her. Im not even sure she got my email correct or the serial code. Seems i also have to find a box to ship the damn thing in Im convinced with how the conversation went ill never see the console again if i use this service. So im just going to go back to Game and get a replacement. How hard would it be to have people based in the UK to talk to MS?

Garny, ask to talk to a guy in the london office called Clint. Very helpful man.

Here is a tip, register your console on xbox.com, this skips the need to tell them all your details

Well just got an email, so at least she got that part correct. Do i have to find a box to stick the 360 in myself? or do they ship me one to send it back in? I guess i should have been told this on the phone, but as i said it didnt go well.

Basically you need to pack it up nice and tight in a box, you shoudl be emailed a UPS label which you then print out and stick to the box.

You ring up UPS and ask them to collect it from where ever

I'm still safe.... at the minute, but in a matter of days two mates 360's have died. It makes me feel uneasy.

Yay! Got sent a PAL console to replace my NTSC-J machine. I don't think they even bothered to read my letter I sent with the console.

Now as I have 12 titles that are region locked, some of which are not likely to get western releases I've decided to part with the system and concentrate on my retro collection.

It was fun while it lasted, shame it was only 6 weeks!!

Them's the perils of importing and I knew the risks involved so I am grateful that at least I got a replacement machine even if in the end I have decided to call it quits.

I don't disapprove of your decision to 'go retro', as it will be less expensive in the long run, but have you even talked to MS Support about their error?

To be honest, I was always prepared for this eventuality, and quite frankly I don't think I could face another call to one of their call centers. I'll just send back the customer service feedback form they've sent me.

I returned my 360 to Game today, and got a full refund. I was offered another console, but im past that now. I just cant keep running backwards and forwards returning the damn things or getting grief from MS support. I was really looking forward to GoW and Lost Planet, so im gutted it looks like ill be missing out on them. I really like the 360 (one of the best consoles ive owned) however it seems the bulid quailty is complete ****e, and i can no longer put up with all the hassel that gos with it. All i ask is for a 360 that will last me at least a couple of years with no problems (at least not major ones)

Maybe i should ask for the display/demo pod if i get another one in the future (it seems that they are always working ok)
