How exactly does this VISA gift card stuff work, only I've just snagged myself a copy of Rock Band & I was completely unaware that I'm going to be unable to use my Mastercard to buy stuff from the US store anymore.

Its a visa card for say $100 You can buy em in USA in banks, certain shops etc.. and it can be used anywhere. For online purchases you have to register it at the cards site (different gift sites have different registers) and for us with PSN you just register it with the USA account name and address then go into PSN with the details and bam its on. You wont get exactly $100 as the gift card takes a couple of dollars (I could use $95).

Basically now its the only way for us to get stuff as Wireplay is broke also for me.

just be patient guys i'm sure the network card are on the way soon. Besides $100 is a lot to put down just for the sake of buying content.

Have you actually tried? I've heard a lot of people saying they can't use Wirecard any more (Which is a virtual MC) yet I use mine all the time. Check before you look at alternate means.

I couldnt use mastercard or a wirecard Ive tried in last week as new member on wirecard hence going down giftcard route as was desperate to get me Rock Band stuff

If your current details are already in the system and working, you're fine.

Unless you own a card with the billing address in the country you're trying to set up Wirecard for yes.

Just a quick note to say that I've just bought something over the US PSN using my Mastercard & it went through without a problem. I have had the card registered for a few months now though, maybe theres just a problem with new accounts?

i had my mastercard registered on a us account but i had to cancel the card. the new card won't register so i guess you might be right

Yes everyone I've spoken to is finding the same, Wirecard's security checking procedure was increased greatly about four months back.

If you have Wirecard set up and a while until the card's expiry date you're laughing

Just to reiterate from my PMs Ive been sending...

everyone should have got a Vsa Card terms when you bought a gift card explaining what you need to do to make it active for online purchases (offline fine). YOU MUST REGISTER THAT CARD on the site with a address and name or it wont work online its the first thing you should do when you buy one put your card details and 3 digits into site and go shove a name and address up for it preferably the one you used to setup a USA PSN account with.

If you dont do this the card wont be active for ANY online purchases not just PSN.

Not sure if this is at all helpful to anyone but i just setup a HK account, i used my uk credit card with the made up HK address and it worked. I did only spend $40hk, and am half expecting a phone call from my bank saying someone in HK is using it, but at least i got a PS1 game i wanted.
