I think, BeyondJumpFish, while you clearly picked up on the word 'memorable', you may have missed out on the word 'last'.

another Castlevania IV one here. sublime.

Gouls and Ghosts on the Amiga, Tim Folin did a brill soundtrack for that one.

Rez, it just suited the game perfect.

Alien 3 (mega drive) pretty atmospheric tunes.

I think Shmups have MEMORABLE soundtracks, DoDonPachi's springs to mind. I own FF7 and FF8 soundtracks because i REMEMBER them as being good so i bought them.
We Love Katamari get's stook in my head when i play it so i class it as MEMORABLE.
Sorry to get you in a huff mate lol. I did mean 'last' memorable. So really, there should only be one answer, but I don't mind if you share the love in general. I pictured you with a right cob-on typing that.

There are some fantastic tunes on FFXI, like many FF games some of them are mind-numbing loops that make you sick after hearing them a thousand times. Some of them are impossible to get bored of though.

Metroid Primes 1+2 for the reasons listed above.

Anything by Rare. Most of the classic music by Wise/Kirkhope single-handedly transcend the mood. For instance, from first glancing at games like Donkey Kong Country and Banjo most n00bs would think "Bah! Kiddy!!", listen to the music though and you get a different message, which is also reflected in the extreme difficulty found later in some titles (JFG, Blast Corps. and DKC2 standing out there).

          Donkey Kong Country 1+2
          Perfect Dark
Perfect Dark Zero (The soundtrack alone made this a good game for me. lol!)
          Banjo
          Conker
          Star Fox Adventures (mostly)

          All cracking OSTs.
          Yes,yes,yes ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh YES!

          actually maybe not PDZ

I bought Mutsuhiko Izumi's album a couple of weeks back after getting quite heavily into Guitar Freaks. He's responsible for most of the in house music in the series, a lot of which is real technical fretborad wanking type stuff, I only recently discovered he did the music for a lot of Konami's classic arcade stuff e.g. Ninja Turtles etc. as well.

Marty Friedman (ex Megadeth) guests on a couple of tracks and Izumi more than holds his own when playing with him, although there's a fair amount of cheese on the album as well I still love his work.

quake. a bloody terrifyingly atmospheric track. true brooding evil in aural form.

if i ever (random, i know this) own a haunted house, this will be the soundtrack to the scares without doubt.

Not the soundtrack so much, but I'm playing Eternal Darkness at the moment and the ambient sounds are awesome. In an 'I'm struggling to play this without turning on all the lights' kind of way.

The last game I played with a memorable soundtrack was Oddworld Stranger's Wrath.

You can't buy it (as far as I know), but I downloaded the choice MP3s from the Oddworld website, then aquired the entire soundtrack ripped from the game. Just love it to death.

Shadow of the colossus also had a killer soundtrack.
