Spraying my GameCube (lots of pics inside)

I'm not sure whether this is the place for this or not, mods please move if it's in the wrong place.

Well, I haven't been able to rid my spare purple GameCube for love nor money. So, I dug out my trusty Gamebit last night and spent 45 minutes or so carefully dismantling it. I've never seen so many screws and components in such a small amount of space, it's going to be hell putting it back together.

I'm going to be respraying it Gloss White (I think), a bit like the Wii. I have bought a bright blue LED to replace the orange one that the GC has. I'll probably dehandle it too, as I never did like it. The centre plate will be staying its original black with GameCube logo. Front panel and power button will be staying the original grey.

And yeah, I could have just bought a pearl white cube (I do actually have one), but it's not half much fun as doing it yourself, and it's an off-white pearl, not gloss, without the digital out.

    Before:

Update. I have now plastic primered the GameCube outers after washing the pieces in the washing up bowl and drying them out. I have to say, I'm pretty impressed with the results. Here's some pics:

Next up will be gently rubbing down with wet & dry, before spraying the pieces gloss white. Then I'll get the soldering iron out and swap over the LEDs, with fingers firmly crossed that it works.

Hey Ed, did you ever see the Famicom one someone did?

    Looked really good imo.

Hi Nick, I don't think I have? I have seen a Famicom one while searching Google images, it had a red neon base with it. I've seen Importaku's flip painted one on here, but that's the only one I think.

Yeah that's the one. I really like that, except for the red neons. There's a pretty cool looking Famicom style SNES on there, too.

I don't know if anyone is interested (it doesn't look like it ), but here is an update.

All sprayed now, just have to wait for it to fully set and then the joyus job of putting it back together.

And here is a sneak peek at the finished spray job, with 'Cube plate put back in place.

Good job on the spray job.

I still have my spare cube to do over in glow in the dark paint & uv led mod.
