I'm not sure whether this is the place for this or not, mods please move if it's in the wrong place.
Well, I haven't been able to rid my spare purple GameCube for love nor money. So, I dug out my trusty Gamebit last night and spent 45 minutes or so carefully dismantling it. I've never seen so many screws and components in such a small amount of space, it's going to be hell putting it back together.
I'm going to be respraying it Gloss White (I think), a bit like the Wii. I have bought a bright blue LED to replace the orange one that the GC has. I'll probably dehandle it too, as I never did like it. The centre plate will be staying its original black with GameCube logo. Front panel and power button will be staying the original grey.
And yeah, I could have just bought a pearl white cube (I do actually have one), but it's not half much fun as doing it yourself, and it's an off-white pearl, not gloss, without the digital out.

Update. I have now plastic primered the GameCube outers after washing the pieces in the washing up bowl and drying them out. I have to say, I'm pretty impressed with the results. Here's some pics:

Next up will be gently rubbing down with wet & dry, before spraying the pieces gloss white. Then I'll get the soldering iron out and swap over the LEDs, with fingers firmly crossed that it works.
