Well there's no excuse then! If it was done by Namco in 2006 wtf are Studio Scouser playing at?

I saw WipeOut HD once and I can't say I saw any framerate problems.

Hope the technical problem is sorted out soon.

I really can't see them classing frame rate problems as a bug to be honest and from the playtests that people have had there hasn't really been any slow down which shouldn't be able to be eliminated.

Don't make me get my Ultimate Warrior gifs out TheForce!!!

I can't see how this is anything other than netcode, surely? It's the one thing that they have to get absolutely right.

Back on topic straight after this!!

Lol I haven't watched wrestling for years you know. It used to be such a laugh when this lot were on but the classics are probably all out of it now.

              Um, Wipeout HD anyone?

Mind you, it looks like we've got a few months of nothing to talk about in this thread so perhaps wrestling can be a filler.

I haven't laughed so hard in ages.

That brings back so many memories, god the WWF was brilliant. When Ultimate Warrior jumps into the ring, and grabs Ric Flair - Flair stares at him for about five seconds without doing anything....

How did I fell for this when I was a kid, actually, who cares, because it was such great entertainment.

Just remembering the Bush Whackers as well, with their smelly armpits they would put to an opponents face... pure class.

Oh, and Wipeout is awesome, and I can't wait for it.. I will always remember fondly playing the 2097 demo that came with my Playstation - Gare d'Europa, a classic track.

                  EDIT:
Would I be considered insensitive if I was to suggest that I can sense a disturbance in TheForce approaching?
                  PANTS!!

I remember when I went to a conference in Liverpool that when the guy tried to show this game, it crashed so I don't know if he means that or the game has a technical problem. I was looking forward to playing this. Ohwell, I'll just have to wait for Bionic Commando Rearmed and 1942 to come out within the next few weeks!

It seems that the people who have played this over the past couple of months and were saying that it was looking close to finished may be right as it had got through testing apart from in one area.

The streamlined HD racer was strangely absent from Sony's E3 conference, with the firm citing technical difficulties as the culprit.

We've been playing a near finished version of the game here in the office for ages now. Check out these exclusive movies to see how pretty it looks. All we were waiting for then was news of a release and how much it would set us back.

Imagine our surprise when we were told that the game had failed epilepsy tests and has to be re-engineered as a result before it can be released to the public.

CVG has been told that WipEout "fails the epilepsy tests so much that it has to be re-engineered." All that speed and flashing lights zipping past your eyes must be too much to handle.

No further details were available, such as how long this re-working might take but we've contacted Sony and are still awaiting an official response on the status of WipEout HD and when we can expect to see it launch on PSN.
And while we're at it, what ever happened to the PSN release of 2097 (XL in the US)? You'll know when we do.
I wasn't aware that games had to be tested like this but if it is causing problems then I don't blame them for wanting to improve it.

I'm guessing that with something like this it could be put on hold for quite some time as re-engineering sounds like they will be forced to pull it apart.

WipEout HD delayed for failing epilepsy tests

The Aternating blocks of colours/arrows on the tracks make the machines that test these things bonkers, unfortunately they are part of what gives the game such a colossal sense of speed, They may be forced to remove them

havent those arrows always been there on wipeout games?

                        Comment

They have been but I doubt they have always tested for epilepsy

I think they're fairly standard in Wipeout and other games of this type because as Boris stated they really help give the impression of speed.

Not sure why the problems are so bad in this game though? I think that it's when they are moving at such a speed that they give the impression of pulsing that problems can arise.

Hopefully it won't take too long to sort out though.

There's a machine to test this sort of thing?

What an age we live in.

I always thought games of this type included an epilepsy warningin the manual, leaving the person to take responsibilty for their own health.
