I like it. Think we'll see it in Prologue or have to wait until GT5?

It's one of those car designs (There has been many in the past) that I hate at first but then grow to like.

They've also added the other 2 cars that they worked on with the car manufacturers. I've been hoping they would since both cars were shown and it's nice to be able to use all 3 of them now!!

Hitting on our promise to continue to evolve the GT series, a new update for Gran Turismo 5 Prologue is NOW available. This update adds three new vehicles to the game?s line-up, plus a number of gameplay and performance enhancements we think you?ll be excited about. Here we go?

              New Vehicles
All three vehicles and manufacturers have special ties to Gran Turismo developer Polyphony Digital. They will be added to their respective Dealership areas in GT5 Prologue.

GT by Citreon - The ?GT by Citroen? concept car is the result of a groundbreaking collaboration between French automaker Citroen and Polyphony Digital. The formal debut of the vehicle took place yesterday at the Paris Motor Show, coinciding with the release of today?s update to the game. A video of the ?GT by Citroen? can be viewed in HD within Gran Turismo TV.

The two other new cars are the Ferrari California and the Lotus Evora. They are a lot of fun to drive. For a look at these sexy vehicles, check out the images below.

The GT by Citroen is available for 1 Million credits; the Ferrari California will go for 300,000 credits the Lotus Evora for 100,000. Piece of cake, right?!?

              GamePlay Enhancements

We?ve also added some great new gameplay enhancements to continue to improve the racing experience in GT5 Prologue. This includes changes to the penalty system; specifically, during Time Trial events, speed penalties have been removed, and instead incurring such a penalty now invalidates the lap time for that particular lap. Race events are also being updated, with tweaked difficulty levels and increased earnings for winning a top spot. Additionally, improved responsiveness when using the wireless controller, and improved sound volume balance for sound effects and music for a better racing experience. Drift Trial races have also been changed to feature a rolling start.

Disclaimer Note Here: Rankings, arcade time trial times, drift trial records, as well as vehicle-specific quick tune settings and custom key layouts will all be reset with the new update. Replay data created before the second update will no longer be viewable after this update. To confirm the version you have before updating the game, check the in-game manual.

That?s it for now, folks. I?ll see you on the track?."

hurrah the usual 'download failed' error! it says it'll continue from where it left off, in that case would it be so hard to have the progress bar visually indicate as such? instead of starting from the beginning again? christ.

Worked first time for me and was really quick too! It's probably being hammered now though. Here's the video from a couple of months back when the Ferrari California was first shown. New tracks anybody?

new tracks would be awesome, still waiting for the nurburg ring (spelling?)

What's with the 1 million credits bull****? I really can't be bothered building up all the money again. (Assuming I can even get the update considering how abysmal it's been in the past, I gave up on the last one.)

                        Comment

Maybe it's worth changing the download type to peer to peer as that's what I did and there's probably loads of seeds now.

I think it's in the video I posted so you may be lucky, I've read other people saying it's the full Le Mans track but it doesn't really show enough to confirm either unless you really know the corners of the tracks.

The download was very quick for me but the three new cars aren't very exciting unfortunately.

I turned off auto save so I could try each car without waisting my credits.

Gran Turismo in 4 times the resolution of Full HD

Polyphony Digital also presented two technological trials for the next generation at this event. Both of the presentations, were founded on the philosophy of “achieving the highest possible quality” held over the years by Gran Turismo.

One of these, was a time trial competition using Sony’s newest digital cinema projector, the “SRX-S110”. Gran Turismo 5 prologue is already in Full HD resolution at 1920 x 1080 pixels, providing the highest resolution possible in today’s TV content. However in this time trial, the Full HD image was increased to twice the resolution both vertically and horizontally (4x the surface area), enabling game play at an ultra high resolution of 3840 x 2160 pixels. This was performed by connecting and synchronizing four Playstation 3’s outputting a quarter of the image each at 1920x1080 pixels, but you must remember this demands an extremely high quality image from the source that can withstand the ultra high resolution. It can be said that this demonstration was only made possible, because the source image was Gran Turismo.

What supported this time trial on the display side, was the newest digital cinema projector from Sony, the SRX-110. This “4K”SXRD”(*1) projector is the next generation in projector technology, enabling a resolution of 4096 x 2160 pixels, equivalent to the high resolution image of 35mm film. The high 4000:1 device contrast ratio and a response time of 5 milliseconds, also adds to the level of breathtaking image expression introduced here.
The crowd was simply amazed by the clarity of the image displayed on the massive 220 inch screen, and the players who participated in the time trial expressed their excitement of how perfectly in focus the screen is even close up, and at the quality of Gran Turismo.

*1: Abbreviation for Silicon X-tal Reflective Display. A reflective LCD display device using monocrystalline silicon with aluminum mirrors as the drive element.

Posted over on the official site along with another feature of GT5P running at 240fps, interesting stuff I suppose, from a whats possible in future consoles sort of way. Still, I wish Polyphony Digital would stop pissing about with things like this and just release GT5.
