Not sure how many people saw the E3 video of this, but did you see Sebastien Vettel and Polyphony at the Red Bull factory?

It looked like Vettel may be doing some voice work for the game, maybe like Vikki Butler Henderson in GT4 Prologue, and possibly means that last years Red Bull F1 car may be in GT5.

    I can but hope.

Well they've been saying for months now that this is the first proper sequel to GT1 so you may get your wish. All the others moved stuff from one game to another without really evolving in any way, this is the first time they've started from scratch and are trying to build something that other companies will be influenced by.

As Charles mentions, it has been done before but it's not going to be of interest to everybody.

On GT Planet, which is my usual forum haunt, I guarantee you that people will do full 24 hour races. GT Planet has their own leagues for stuff like this, they even have an iPhone app to track how the leaderboards are updating.

Imagine if they did online 24 hour races where you log in and then get into the queue and can take over when your time comes.

The latter, it's worth noting, are only standard by Yamauchi's exacting principles: there's over 800 of them, they cover the majority of the vehicles included in all the previous Gran Turismo games, including the PSP version, and they've been optimised and upscaled for the PS3.

The 200 premium cars that take the final count past the 1000 mark are something else, however. The premiums have been lavished with a slightly worrying amount of detail - every single screw is visible in the hubs, the interiors have been recreated down to the stitching (standard cars won't have interiors, which is a bit sad, but there are, like, 800 of them), and their undersides have been comprehensively modelled to take into account a new physics system which, along with allowing for dents and scratches, can sends your ride flipping through the air during collisions.

                  http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/gr...-2010-hands-on
Just seen this, Eurogamer seem to have made a bit of an error in what they're saying but other sites are giving a different response as to the difference between the Standard and Premium cars.

All cars do have the cockpit fully modelled and do receive, simulated physical damage as well as dents, paint scratching off and dust building up on the cars.

What the standard cars don't have are things like a fully modelled engine with each nut and bolt visible as well as full modelling of every part underneath the car and because of this you won't be able to lose pieces of the car as you can in premium models such as this one...

The Standard cars seem to easily match the cars in any other game as they are taken from the highly detailed 3D models that were scaled back to feature in the earlier games.

The Premium cars are brand new and can take a couple of months to build. In these, every part of the car is modelled in 3D which allows the car to come apart when taking damage.

This is an 18Mpx screen captured from the replay mode which I'll post as a thumbnail due to the size of it. Photobucket reduces the size the size unfortunately. Here's a link to the full size image that I used on GT Planet.

This is a direct section from the 18Mpx screen shot and it goes to show the sort of detail that is modelled in the Premium cars. It's the same level of detail all over the car, that includes the engine, the bolts that hold it together and also the stitching inside the car.

I'm sure that Yamauchi is his sheer insanity would like nothing better than to model each and ever part of over a 1000 cars, when it takes a couple of months to model each car in that way he has to draw a line somewhere.

Don't worry about not being able to use an internal view on the Standard cars, you can do and they'll still look fantastic when you do but not to the slightly unnerving level that they do in the Premium cars.

Have a look on a few other sites and everywhere else seems to be clear about this but for whatever reason Eurogamer has got it slightly off but it's a slight error than made a big difference.

November 2nd. I'm not sure if that's only in North America though.

Also, it seems that people are speculating that the night and day mode we have seen in the game, may only be available on their more open rally type tracks. Looking at the track they showed the dynamic night/day cycle, it is rather bland which could mean that their engine is only capable of the technology in certain levels. So our hopes of playing a Le Mans 24 hour race may be out of the question unfortunately.

That is only the speculation over at GT planet though.

Only 20? Wasn't there a lot more than that in GT4 alone, and they said almost every track from GT4 would be brought across to GT5, plus quite a lot more?

A few more details up on Gt Planet: http://www.gtplanet.net/more-gt5-det...-no-bbq-smell/

EuroGamer was first to share new details that emerged from the private GT5 presentationYamauchi hosted at E3 on Wednesday, and now we’ve got even more information from MotorTrend, Kotaku, IGN, and GameSpot. Now, in addition to the new details I’ve already covered, here’s what we know:
                              • Polyphony Digital is working on reducing load times and is still tweaking graphics ahead of the November release date.
                              • The game has nearly filled all of the space available on Blu-Ray disc.
                              • You’ll have the option to synchronize the game’s time of day with the track’s current local time.
                              • The crowds will be dynamic, so there will be more tents, cars, and motorhomes at longer races.
                              • Yamauchi admits his team may have “actually gone too far in modeling some of this detail” and suggested it might be “more suited to the next generation of PlayStation.”
                              • Both high and low-beam headlights will be included, so you can flash slower cars as you’re about to pass them (how awesome will this be during the 24 hour races!?!). All lights will illuminate dirt, smoke, or other debris in the air.
                              • NASCAR insisted that all of their series’ cars be playable on all circuits in the game.
                              • It was previously mentioned that only 9 NASCAR cars will be included, but this was incorrect. There are simply 9 cars in the E3 2010 demo, but “many more” are coming.
                              • With the exception of profanity, all of the Nurburgring’s graffiti has been re-created, just as it is in real life. According to Kotaku, they will attempt to keep the graffiti up-to-date before the game is shipped.
                              • Players will be able to maintain an online profile to share and watch friend’s progress and statistics.
                              • All cars (including standard models) will accumulate dirt and will have functional horns.
                              • All cars will have functioning reverse lights.
                              • More information will be revealed at Gamescom in Germany on August 18-22.
                              • More Formula 1 teams will bring their cars to the game, in addition to Ferrari.
                              • “While racing the 24 hours of Nurburgring, you can smell people’s barbecues — we couldn’t recreate that.” — Kazunori Yamauchi

Unfortunately, despite all of these details, there is still much confusion regarding the status of interior views on the 800+ “standard” car models in the game. Kotaku provides the most optimistic description:
The developers have created fully modeled interiors for the Premium cars, as well as doing detailed modeling for the car’s undercarriage and even the exhaust pipes! The Standard cars apparently won’t have the exact interior modeling. For example, an Enzo’s interior will look like the real deal, but your typical Mustang’s will look like exactly like Mustang’s.
Take that for what you will – hopefully Yamauchi will be able to clear this up during his live Twitter interview with @Honda tomorrow (12:00 PM, Pacific time, Thursday June 17th).

YES! at more F1 cars to be included.

Also, here's a large collection of new screenshots: http://www.gtplanet.net/70-gran-turi...g-nascar-more/

"PlayStation Eye camera features that add a new level of detail to the game, including face tracking for looking around the interior of vehicles while in the interior dash view." - how's that going to work? When you look down, you'll just see your lounge carpet and when you look back up again, the screen will look like it looked before.
