There was a lot wrong with the physics in the demo which Yamauchi has admitted himself quite some time back. I would have complained to be honest but as you said it is just a demo...and also free!

At least he is aware that the handling just wasn't as good as the earlier games and has given himself a year to sort that out.

I have to wonder why they even bothered with last weeks trailer after seeing this one? I wonder if this is the "new" version we've been promised for the PSN?

I'm looking forward to seeing how the real time weather will affect the game, it may not be in Prologue though I suppose.

This looks awesome towards the end of this year it will be so good to have a PS3 with AAA games comin so thick and fast towards X-mas. As long as they tighten up the handling this should be good.

Good point and I hope that doesn't end up being the case.

Other than online gaming, GT has always played better than any other console driving game. It has pushed the technology to a limit where other games attempt to match and generally fail (here's looking at Forza). Only thing that has come close is the TOCA series I reckon, where the online play has been perfected. If they have GT but just online, that'll be amazing. And that's all that's needed I reckon. Nothing fancy, not trillions of game modes just pure driving which GT does best.

Any word on a new wheel to go with a new GT? Can't get much better than the last FF-iteration. Does GT:HD (which is a port, no?) recognise USB FF-wheels?

There usually is a custom wheel with a new GT so don't be surprised to see one!!

GT: HD wasn't a port. It used the PS2 graphics & physics engine and was really just a quick demo. It certainly hadn't advanced like GT 5 will hopefully...I still really enjoyed it though lol.

The whole drift thing was off due to the fact that the cars seemed far to heavy. It did feel more like the Arcade versions of the old games, even with all the stability controls turned off they were just to heavy and stuck to the road too much for me.

The online stuff has been in development since before GT4 was released so hopefully they'll be able to do something special.

It works fine with wheels. I hear the Logitech G25 and Driving Force Pro work very well. Polyphony certainly have G25s in their office but I don't know if GT5 will support the clutch plus H shift pattern, it would be a nice bit of fan service if it did.

Btw, the recent trailer featured London. Maybe the game will feature street races also?

This game does indeed look graphically impressive, but I doubt if it can beat the current daddy of simulation racing games - Forza 2. It may end up having more tracks, more cars, better graphics, but on past record will probably lack the feel, the fun, the fabulous controls of Forza.

I remember when GT1 first came out on the PSOne, it was a revelation. It was the first racing game to get me hooked. Ever since though, it has (for me) been a case of diminishing returns in the face of increasing expectations. Where is the damage? Where is the AI? Where is the fun?

I never played Forza 1, and that is why Forza 2 is a revelation for me. It meets all my expectations that GT has consistently failed on. OK, it could do with three or four more tracks (Spa for one) but it reigns supreme for me at the moment.

I don't mean to bash GT, as I hope it can regain its former glory. It could happen, the truth is none of us will know until the final game launches.

I don't know if it's been posted yet, but GT5 Prologue has been confirmed as an October release for Japan.

Wow wow wow, that video was AMAZING.

Looks so good, and the way the car react to the turning, acceleration and braking was ace too, in that the bodys were twisting and turning and the suspension really adjusting obviously on hard braking etc. Looked very well done.

                          15 in this shot!

I suppose it'll depend on the track though. This is a pretty bland looking track without much detail...but that's what it's like in real life too.

I think the details on those cars is stunning - even if there are only a few unique models on display in that ^^ image.
Nice to see that they've done the Z4's soft top properly (looks it anyway...) too unlike Forza's stab at the Boxster where they just plumped for the hard top option.
