My brother just confirmed that the Valkyria Chronicles demo is up on the UK store and has started it downloading for me.

Why do I have 3 hours of work left?

EDIT - I hope Sony haven't been sneaky and disabled the ability for the UK demo to play on a US console what with the whole US demo with Qore thing happening.

Interested to see Linger in Shadows in motion. There was an interesting post on the US blog about it last week.

It also allows the player to play around with some parts of the environment, like rotating certain objects or moving light sources. The demo was later also presented at NVISION 08, in a somewhat updated state. [8]
The interactive part initially only lets the user to explore the first fifth of the demo, and the user has to perform various actions with the SIXAXIS to unlock the next part, such as shaking the controller or holding it in a certain angle. The scenes also feature hidden greetings to a number of known demogroups, which can be found in more obscure areas of the demo. Unlocking parts of the demo ("sigils") as well as finding hidden greetings both reward the user with trophies.[8]
The demo also features a hidden part, unlockable in the menu by pressing down both analog sticks (L3 and R3) on the SIXAXIS. The resulting menu item allows the viewer to watch an "oldskool demo" with a starfield, two DYCP scrollers (using the C64 character set) and various other early demo effects such as blitter objects and metaballs (intentionally made to look low resolution), with chiptune music accompanying it.[8]

Could someone please explain this demo-scene thing to me, and tell me what on earth L.I.T.S. is supposed to be, thanks.

its like an interactive demo, you must remember the 'demos' on C64 and Amiga right?

just a show off of the programmers experise really, and what they can do with the hardware.

Hi all, my name is Rusty Buchert and I am the Sr. Producer for Linger in Shadows. Some of you may have heard about it already from coverage here and there, but there are a lot of questions surrounding this unique title. It will be releasing on the PlayStation Network on October 9, so I [...]

There you go Dan. I'm sure JP posted some links to Youtube footage of people talking about it as well (Including one of the MM co-founders! ).

I really can't wait to give this a go. Hopefully we'll get more stuff like this although I can't imagine it'll sell many copies.

Thanks, that's what I thought but just wasn't sure! Never had a C64 or Amiga - all Spectrum at our house

So its a tech demo for the PlayStation 3, correct me if I'm wrong but i don't remember paying two quid for the playstaion 1 dinosaur and that was interactive you could spin it and everything.

Capitalist pigs, shouldn't something as limited as this be a free download, as the blog link above says its not even as if the people who put it together got paid lol

Well you may not collect any wages for whatever work you do as you're seemingly not a capitalist but try and remember that there are some people who are really interested in these things and have been for years and they have the option to pay for it if they think it's worth it.

If they don't, then I imagine they won't pay for it so no harm done. If people aren't interested in it being interactive then they are more than welcome to download the free video that is available for them and that may give them everything they want.

The people who do demos like this don't get paid, they do it as they really love pulling the technology apart and seeing what they can build in a demo. Some of these people have been doing it for a decade or more and I'm sure they would have stopped by now if they weren't getting something they wanted out of spending years doing this.

I imagine there are a few people would even happily pay a couple of quid to just get the trophies as from the thread I started recently it seems that some people are more than happy to buy games for a lot more than this that they know are complete **** and they aren't going to enjoy just to get the achievements/trophies.

They had another tech demo up and running for us to pay for too, Super Rubber Ducky or something ****e.

This looks alright though, very odd

if the duck thins what i think you mean (super rub a dub), that was a game - no tech demo.

Didn't think it warranted its own thread, be interesting to see what kind of stuff they put up on there. Viewable from the PS3 as well now.

EDIT: Looks like the intention is to allow you to eventually upload direct from the PS3 to this. Awesome.

Just had an email from Sony with a survey on the Siren: Blood Curse with questions about DLC for the game including new chapters, new characters, etc.

It took about 2 minutes and I get a free download code for The Last Guy in exchange. There's no mention of how they are picking people but it's worth checking your email to see if you have one.
