So what fancy stuff do I have to do to get the 360 to play .mp4 files? Because it won't even *see* them on my PC share.

Pretty impressed with the update. I think the subtle changes to the blade content is good, and I watched a couple of Xvid encoded episodes of Heroes off a CDR and they worked perfectly. I can't understand the criticisms of the Xbox front end being worse than the PS3 front end (in looks terms) - not a fanboy comment, I own both consoles, I just always see forum posts pointing it out - I think the Xbox front end is all warm and cuddly and inviting. Jump In and all that jazz.

I STILL can't get video's to encode to something that the xbox can read.. I'm checking them out with gspot to see the codec used (generally divx v5 and onwards) and they look like they should be fine. Anyone got any ideas before I start to convert all me films to wmv?
*update* I'll probably do something like this: http://www.jakeludington.com/xbox/20...streaming.html
*udpate no.2* for anyone else having grief with xvids, you can do it easily via WM11 streaming. Microsoft, please fix the 360 extender to play xvids, ta.Last edited by k0pp0; 07-12-2007, 20:53.

^The above works perfectly for me... on my XP machine.
On my Vista x64 machine, mp4 files now appear in the WMP11 library, but still not on the 360. Strange.
btw if anyone is having problems over VGA where some videos give a blank screen (I've had a few), you need to hook up Component and disable 50Hz mode to get them working.
