Really don't wanna move into the PS3 vs 360 battle here but it has to be said if something like this happend to the PSN on a large scale like this Sony would be getting hammered from all parts. There is really no excuse for it especially as we pay for this service. I had my 360 freeze multiple times last night due to Xbox Live issues, it got really annoying.

I was getting real problems downloading anything earlier today - it just kept coming up with error codes or the category on the Marketplace said there was nothing there

I was having the very same problems on the US Marketplace this morning and haven't tried it since.

Agreed, and I reiterate that we STILL haven't even been told what the problem is or the estimated time it'll take to fix it.

That said, it's still better than the PSN and no amount of down-time will change that.

I do wonder if it's load.. I logged on at about 09:30 on New Year's day (been trying to pay for Texas Hold'em Poker for the missus). It was lovely and responsive.. Haven't tried it since.

I suspect it is. Everybody on holiday and the new dash.

If it was a free service I'd grin and bear it but as its a paid for service its not acceptable. Whatever the reason.

Anyhoo - I've not had any problems this evening. Downloaded Metal Slug and have been in and out of a few games with no problems.

Have any of the gaming websites reported on the problems? I've visited a couple and nothing seems to have been posted.

This is ridiculous, everytime I try playing COD 4 online I get in a game lobby with other people and straight away the lobby closes.

Am I the only one experiencing these problems still?

had problems with halo last night, couldn't retrieve the play lists from live. rubbish!

its gone pretty fooking crud over the last 4 weeks for me, most online stuff has been not enjoyable to try and play.

considering its a paid service I would expect better, but then again, since when have MS actually cared about what they provide, after all, all the 360s they rolled out, over half of em ended up breaking within a year!

I hope this compensation they are talking about is something decent, a good load of points would be nice.
