Well they did say they will announce more details in a few weeks. Gives them time to cobble together some Flash-esque piece of **** to fob us off with.

Well whatever game they give away is obviously going to affect the developers, so I guess they have to strike some deal with someone as form of compensation.

That podcast came out too quick for my liking and Live's Support page has been changing status back and forth during the whole thing.

Ive not even been able to log into LIVE over the last night or so never mind have a online game.

Its gash and reminds me of the effects the PES2008 development team have done. Not very much!!

A free game was given away to celebrate 5th anniversary - it was the 800 point Carcassonne, if you'd already got that it was tough luck, I don't expect this will be any different.

It's a kind of different situation tho. Carcassonne was given away out of "kindness" (and the hope of punting some DLC). They didn't HAVE to do it, and those of us who had already bought it grumbled quietly and life went on ... this next giveaway is supposed to be a form of compensation for poor service, and if people already have whatever they offer, they might feel shortchanged.

I'd agree, I'd prefer to get some points and be able to spend it on something I don't have. I suspect the backend code simply doesn't have a provision to allow a user a choice of free downloads and be able to mark this as chosen - either a download has a price or it doesn't.
