Think alot of the moaning is coming from alien fans who are annoyed with tinkering with the backstory/aliens universe

No I think some Alien fans will actually like it tbh (like Duke fans and Forever). Sure it a mess and the AI is so poor (what more or less kills the game) but its Aliens and its kind of cool to walk around with the motion tracker and let rip with the Pulse rifle.

It looks like a decent shooter (i enjoyed the last effort with alot of people found crap); and as i said if patched it could take out some of the bugs. It doesnt look totally broken. Seems to be a big band wagon that everyone jumps on, without actually playing it. Mere titalation if you ask me.

As for stuff like characters getting stuck or walking in to walls etc, well, that happens in pretty much every videogame FPS ever made really at some point or other. I remember a ton of stuff happening like that in the killzones or COD's for example.

Chalk another one up who liked the last one. Single player was average but still worth a play through, multiplayer kept me and my pal going for ages, from what I understand its stop populated now.

Watching those vids about how broken it is, made me think "Oooh Pulse Rifles! They're carrying them like Hicks with the motion tracker! It's dark and spooky!"

Look the game is a piss poor effort by what is supposed to be a top tier dev, but for me its perfectly serviceable despite some serious flaws...if you are an aliens nut then i still say have a look.

Swathes of overreaction have not been kind on this game. Very meh, very sloppy in fact, but still serviceable.

Put it this way....

Not many games keep me playing for 5-6 hour runs these days on day one, so despite me hating some aspects of this game for the many reasons already covered, i must have enjoyed it to some degree to keep playing.

Getting past the sulaco was a definite plus.

As an Alien fan, I do fancy playing it.

But I can't even justify shelling out 40 quid for Dead Space 3, let alone a known mediocre game like this. It'll be a fiver on Steam before too long.

I imagine its for the same reason people like watching car crashes, sometimes it doesn't matter awful it is, you just have the urge ... But as others have stated , no way I am putting down ?40 for the privilege thats for sure.

Looking at that though I would still rather play AVP 2010, at least you can run around at the predator.

It doesn't look awful though, at least not to me. Admittedly I only flick through the vids, but as I said, the glitches i've seen happen in FPS games all the time, it's not anything new. Don't get me wrong, i'll wait until it's significantly cheaper, but I wouldn't pay ?40 for any game these days.
