Nobody answered my question, so I'll ask again:

Will this game scare the **** out of me?

Yes, as long as Ian(not Ian) is on the design team.

Meant to post about this the other day, set pieces like that would be so damn cool.

The last AVP game was scarier than any of the previous movies.

If you hunt around you should be able to find scans.

I've been reading today that a couple of writers wot did Battlestar Galactica have been doing the story for this.
                          Bah,
As it's a videogame we can suspend disbelief.
Make the game exactly as Aliens, but with 'what if scenarios'.
IE what if the marines (well, most of them) were able to fight their way out of the Atmosphere Processor at the first encounter. Opens up 'new' scenes to be played out with characters who never really got a look-in. Give us a chance to be Spunkmeyer for goodness sake.

Eventually 'killing them off' as if they died in the first battle.

Then funnelling players into the 'actual' scenes in Aliens after a wee while.

Scenes like Bishop's run to the remote landing pad, sure he went down the pipe, but emerged into the open, unarmed mind you. Give him a splinter-cell sneak-a-thon to reach the uplink.

Give Apone and his squad a chance to pop a few aliens before passing the baton to the major players.

Let this be entered into the new gaming constitution.

                                I agree in principal.
However, who recalls a sneak scene where you had no weapons whatsoever, no stun grenades, no neck-snapping, no smoke bombs, no knives, no offensive tactics at all.

In 2001 that was the norm.
Indeed why not NO MORE FPS IT'S SO NINETIES.

Everything can be refined, and has been refined, GoW refined the 3rd person shooter. MGS4 refined itself, go on, play MGS1 now and see just how far its' come. Even now it's not up to Splinter Cell in its heyday.

If we continue with the 'no more' perceptions then bland will rule the day.
                                NO MORE HOCKENHEIM
                                NO MORE BULLET TIME
                                NO MORE DOUBLE-JUMPS
                                NO MORE LEVELLING UP
                                NO MORE TRAINS
                                NO MORE SKILL-TREES
                                NO MORE CHAIN-KILLS

All the mechanics of videogames of the past, with proper direction and attention to detail can be re-defined, re-invented. This, insofar as Aliens:Colonial Marines is how I want to see it done. I want, Full-Spectrum-Warrior re-defined in Hadley's Hope.
