I have always been intrigued by the final fantasy series but put off by the random battles. I love the depth of the story/characters and how the game absorbs you into a world that is both mysterious and magical. Therefore I get annoyed with myself that the turn base battles frustrate me. So of course I am desperate to get FF CC but? annoyingly am once again put off by something?

I am sadly purely a solo gamer now. Rarely do I get to play with other people and actually prefer to sit quietly by myself playing games... in a world of my own with the characters and game environment. So? hearing that the main emphasizes is on multiplayer in CC is a little disconcerting for me.

So? my question is (and I am most grateful for any response) can I still enjoy the game without another soul to play with. I assume so; not everyone will be able to play with others, but I need to know for sure before I spend out to get the jap version. The language barrier isn?t a problem for me, of course there will be a lot of text and I shall miss a great deal first play. But I would get the US version too as I did with Wind Waker. And in actual truth I preferred playing WW in JAP then I did US.

So? can a poor soul like me enjoy this rather intriguing game on ones self? Many thanks in advance.

        Kind regards

          In reply to Strider:

The game has ALOT of Japanese text, sure you could play it and trawl through it, however you would be destroying half the game from the off alone, really really wait for the US version if you can't read Japanese!!!

          In reply to Adam Stone:

Great, no more random battles in this game. It's very Secret OF Mana style gameplay here, and all the best to it too. I have played both the multiplayer and single player, both totally enjoyable...In single player so far I have got to the 3rd year within the game world, and im truely enjoying it. For me this game is a kind of snowballing effect game, where as once you play it, you think "Okay!", then it grows and grows on you.
However once again I stress, if you CANNOT read Japanese Please wait for the U.S version.

It is a highly polished game and would be a good addition to anyones game collection. 8)

Im off to play some more, see ya

            Has nobody bought this game???..

On reading other forums it seems its been a big order with importers alike!

Are people put off by the fact they can't read it, or just can't be arsed about the game?

I bought this yesterday from City Cyber Anime in Leeds.

You're dead right when you say its very Japanese heavy, but with the translations and guides from various places i'm gonna give it a go. To be honest i bought it more for the beautiful packaging and as a collectable than for the game and so if needs be i'll buy the US version when its released and play that one instead.

But for now i'll just see how it goes.

I will be waiting for the US release as my japanese reading skills are very poor at the moment (am working on improving them though)

I'm a huge FF fan but what the ****, I don't have a ****ty GBA nor do I plan on getting one, and I don't have any plans on playing a multiplayer RPG solo....

The GBA requirement is pure bull****, what a ****ing gimmick. Nintendo probably thought they'd sell more GBAs if they forced it upon everybody's fave RPG series. Gay.

                      Blah Blah Blah Blah Blah

If you'd only stop to think for a second about what you're saying before you go and spout your ****.

Picture the scene if you will....FF:CC is being played with 4 players all using GC controllers. Player 1 decides he wants to change equip a potion and so pauses the game messes around in the menus for a couple of mins and finally sorts himself and carries on. They carry on their quest for a couple of minutes until Player 2 finds a more powerful shield...he too pauses the game for everyone and messes around for a couple of minutes until he has his new shield equiped. Onwards they go until they reach a boss...the fight isn't going too well and so Player 3 decides its time to use some of his magic healing powers...since he hasn't got that particular spell equiped he has to again pause the game and sort through his attributes until he finds the correct spell to equip...all this takes time, and interupts the flow of the game and eventually Player 4 gets well and truly pissed off and decides he can't be arsed to play anymore and who could blame him?

All the above and much more can be achieved by using the GBA screen and therefore doesn't interupt the game for anyone else at all and because of that makes the game far more enjoyable for all.

I guess you're right though...the GBA linkup feature is a complete gimmick and waste of time. What the **** do Nintendo know about creating playable games afterall?

I'm sick to back teeth of reading completely unthoughtout negativity on these boards. ft:

Was it Secret of Mana where you had that little elf bloke following you around every where?
Come to think of it i think you had a girl following you around too.Of course both these characters where controlled by the CPU but you could switch between characters when you needed to.
Am i still on the right track,am i talking about Secret of Mana?If so it sounds like FFCC single player mode plays the same as Secret of Mana which is a bloody good thing

SuperGoal am i talking about Secret of Mana or one of the other great SNES RPG's i had the pleasure of finishing?

I hardly think they thought they'd sell more GBA's, how many are there out there now?

I have to agree with vic_viper, too many people complain about things like this - if you that set on not getting a GBA then don't buy this game.

                            Yep, that's Secret of Mana.

                            Brilliant game.

Ok just one question that I don't think has been answered, playing solo is it just the moogle that helps you round or do you get other CPU controlled characters as the game goes on? Does this affect how easily you can defeat enemies/bosses?

The only reason I ask is that like Adam, none of my mates show the slightest interest in games so it'd be a definate solo game for me.

I wouldn't buy a GBA just for this game and i would like to know how the game plays in single player and if the CPU controls your charachters until you need to control them your self.

I want to know if FFCC is more of a 2 player game than a single player.Does the CPU just do the job of a human player or are 1 player and 2 player games totaly different?
