Must confess that I loved Sunshine.

      Did you buy a cube?
      If so, then yes..
You won't get the best fps/driving/gangsta (insert other tired genre) game on it, but then, you already knew that, didn't you?

Mario Galaxy was good, but after 37 stars I just didn't see the point of carrying on, strange, I'm a huge mario fan.

At Christmas/New Year time I would have said yes, most definitely. I was playing Super Mario Galaxy and having the the best gaming time I could remember in a while. It was easily my contender for game 2007 and I still stand by that.

However the problem is that I can't remember the last time I sat down with it like that since and got really engrossed. Actually, I can. It was Christmas/New Year playing Super Mario Galaxy.

          Oh dear!

I have picked up a couple of games since then. 2 of them and they're sat right next to me on my desk right now an I hear continuously good things about them. Zack & Wiki and No More Heroes yet I just haven't had any motivation to play either and I don't know why.

Even as a party piece it's losing its luster. Had a family get together a couple of weeks back and naturally the Wii was brought out with the usual suspects (Wii Sports, Mario Kart) and people were clearly thoroughly bored after about 30 mins.

Despite my negativity, I still feel that everyone should play Mario Galaxy and I think I feel that that game is (just about) worth buying the console for.

I have long debated over buying one. My mates and brother have one but never play it unless pissed and Wii sports is the only draw. in fact they have never bought another game for them in 18 months!

For me Sin and Punishmenta nd some othr old stuff is the draw. I have convinced her indoors I should get one, but there is maximum i can go to on price, so i will have to wait until they are a bit cheaper,

Mario holds no interest for me, so there is a shortage of games i guess. And, this is the only new system I haven't bought on launch day since I started gaming, many, many , many years ago...

If you liked previous Nintendo consoles, and the type of games that appeared on them, then definitely since it's basically offering a similar experience.

I don't play mine too much tbh, but I'm happy with it, and the games I've bought so far (all exclusives apart from PES2008). At least a couple are comparable with anything produced during Nintendo's golden years.

As a "second console" its great, but it'll never be anything more than that. It's lacking in too many genres that are important to me.

I've got one (brought it off Peev) with WiiSports (and played it about twice).. My problem is I can't bring myself to buy a game for it when I know there's so many great games for the 360 I haven't brought yet. I expect it will get used around xmas/NYE for family and all that.

wii has (metacritic) 5 x 9/10 + games and 19 x 8/10+. The majority of that lot aren't available anywhere else so, if the type of games in that list interest you then there's potentially plenty there to make it a worthwhile investment.

I have to say that I played mine a great deal before I got a PS3. Since then it doesn't get much use though but I still play Mario Kart with the kids and found Zelda, Galaxy and Metroid to be fantastic games and wouldn't consider selling it.

Any more unhelpful fanboy comments in this thread are likely to be met with action so let's try to answer the OP's question constructively from here on.

Lets not forget Smash Bros is out on Friday, personally i dont think there is a better multiplayer game than Smash on any console.

I love mine and hate it at the same time.

I really like the Nintendoeyness that it obviously has and there are some very unique games that I have really enjoyed (Elebits , Zack and Wiki) but despite this everytime I go to play itit feels like such a massive stepdown from the 360.

I get a similar thing with the PS3 too.

The 360 has made gaming great and simultaneously ruined my multiformat ways

I've got the same love hate thing going on as EvilBoris...

I very rarely play my Wii now but I'm glad that it's sitting there. Wii Sports never gets a look in today but the machine was definately worth it for Resident Evil 4 and Super Mario Galaxy - both of which are fairly easy so won't keep you going for too long. I do intend to go back and start them both again when the winter comes.

When I turn on the machine these days I head straight for the virtual console. Although I think the games are over priced I admit that the ones I've snapped up I love. Currently playing Gradius II and Cho Aniki when I do decide to turn the thing on.

For me it was all downhill once it was joined under the tv by the PS3 - GTA, Burnout Paradise, GT5 Prologue, Devil May Cry 4 and Uncharted have kept me constantly amused... Still glad I have the Wii tho

For me the Wii is the perfect console to have in addition to my xbox 360. There is so many fun games that will never be on the 360 or ps3, like wario ware, excitetruck, eledees, as well as some great deeper games like mario galaxy, zelda and resi evil 4. Plus it has ghost squad

some people seem to be complaining that there are no games on the wii and others are saying there are heaps. here is my humble take on the matter.

the games you find appealing on a system depends largely on which console you have more of a leaning to. for this demonstration the subject will be me. i am a long time nintendo fan. i find there to be an abundance of games worth playing and am finding myself still catching up with releases, even though i have had the system since launch. for me, the stand out games of the system are smash bros, galaxy, mp3, zelda and nmh. i do also however, thouroughly enjoy my excite trucks, paper marios, wario wares and so on.

i do not own another current gen system atm. this is because i see no real appeal in games. i would be interested in playing mgs4, soul calibur 4 and mass effect, but i cant justify buying a system for these few games. HOWEVER, if i was an xbox or ps fan, i am sure i would also own a lot of other games that arent quite as interesting such as your gtas, forzas and gears of war. it all depends on which system or company you favour most.

so i do reccomend you get a wii. there is no shortage of both good and great games and if you owned a cube and think its your kind of system, then i would be picking up one as soon as i could.

Don't forget you can hook it up..(or wireless) and there are a nice selection of games in the retro catalogue.

Favourites on the Wii include SMG which is one of the best games ever, No more heroes is pretty fine too, I quite enjoyed twilight princess and Super Paper Mario is ok in parts.

At the moment I'm up to about 20 or so retro games and I'm always playing it. (shopping channel)

Wouldn't be without my 360 mind as when that broke I didn't take me too long to replace.

Very true. My Cube collection was absolutely massive compared to PS2 (Xbox was a close second). I absolutely loathed the PS2, there was nothing that interested me on the console, and yet other people claim it was the best of its generation.

It kind of links into what I was saying earlier about the number of games in your collection not being representative of the quality of that console's library. It entirely reflects your own prejudices.
