I got the impression from the first game, there was actually a third party involved in the battle - something like the Locust were fleeing something themselves? Not sure where I got that idea from, must have been a line in the dialogue or something.

Therefore, I'm going for Carmine being put back together by the third party, as some kind of mechanised zombie

a major issue with GoW is the broken grenade aiming mechanics. unfourtunately i have yet to hear about a fix. anyone here better informed than me?

What was wrong with the grenade aiming? It's been a while since I played the original, so I can't remember stuff that well.

It never seemed 100% accurate. Plus as soon as you began the throw, you can adjust your aim but the trajectory has gone - personally I thought that was a good thing though....

From what we've seen and heard so far, Epic are really looking to tie up all the mp loose ends and make this everything the online community could have hoped for.

They sound like they've taken things to the logical conclusion, and so long as they're implemented correctly (which you can't guarantee with Epic, look at the original 'nade tagging!) this game will be great. When you're down, you can now crawl away! That's awesome, and something very obvious yet missing from the first game - and leaving a blood trail is a nice bonus Meat shields I'm guessing will be in mp as well, it will be great to grab a downed player and use them that way. Really can't wait for that!

And weapon specific executions is logical as well. As I've said, I bought the PC version planning on modding it, and I was going to incorporate some different executions - again I have to stress, MS don't allow modding the bloody game though, which sucks big time! I wanted the full blown FATALITY! style, complete with FINISH HIM coming up when the last player on a team was taken down, ready to be executed. I can only hope Epic go this route, kind of a tournament feel to it with commentary, but that's probably not going to happen.

New game modes, sounds interesting I guess, but I liked Execution and really only played that - they'd have to be a strong gametype to get me playing anything else regularly.

I thought the grenades bounced a little unnaturally but the aiming system was great. I'm not so sure about the hostage thing though, I mean is some 16 stone hulking great monster going to just stand there and let you do that? I think not. WTF is with Carmine coming back too?

Ah, I remember the grenade throwing now.

A normal Team Deathmatch game would be cool; with respawns and everything. But there's one thing that I think of everytime someone says Gears of War. - Shotguns. These were a fun weapon, but you really need some balance within the MP side of the game. Epic should take a look at what Bungie did.

So decrease the power of the damn shotguns! That's decrease, Epic! Not increase!

I think you'll only be able to grab downed opponents, or maybe dead bodies?

That ain't Carmine. That's the generic Cog trooper helmet.

I reckon Matty's aware of that, but it does say in a previous post here that Carmine is making a (confusing) return.

Ah now that's because they were made out of future bouncy grenade material. With spikes on them

problem is the end of the trajectory line tends to disappear and leaves you clueless to where exactly the grenade will land. this renders the grenade throwing imprecise and unsatisfying.

as far as i know you can only aim as long as the trajectory line stays visible. otherwise the trajectory wouldn't make much sense, right?

No, best as I could tell, once you went to throw it, you still have a second or two and can adjust your aim. The trouble is you don't have a clue where it's going if you try

Yes. It would appear that I was wrong. Just watched an interview with teh Cliffzor and he says it's Carmine.

                            Many apologies Matty!

however, i take it you agree the grenade throwing needs a significant improvement

Actually, not really. Maybe a tweak or two. The game has far worse issues than that!

The invincible executions are a main issue, and gladly fixed; the sniper active reload I don't like and needs less power; sometimes coverlinks don't work as you expect, but that's the mapping rather than the game itself.

Biggest issue with the game is the Live latency but I'll leave that alone
