it is disturbing I am incredibly impressed that IW decided to do that. However I think they should have gone for it full pelt and make it as disturbing as possible. They should have included women and children and old people. If you're going to do this don't do it half heartedly, go for the juggular. You want the player to have an extremely emotional response to the situation and I think that including women and children especially would really get even the most hardened players thinking a bit more. It's an evil act where these people don't care about anyone or anything, they don't discriminate and will shoot anyone in there way.

I also don't agree with this 'make it a cutscene' lark. That's just pussying out, giving the player control is exactly what makes it a talking point and more disturibing and emotional. I don't think IW included that just to be controversial though I'm sure they knew it would be. I'm guessing they wanted to **** with the player as they know who there audience is. You have all these players just wanting to get in there and shoot some terrorists and then they are all of a sudden put in a situation where they can shoot innocents. I find that very interesting though I can understand peoples responses in calling it bad taste.

Makes me a lot more interested in the game and what else they'll do with it.

They're not really comparable. Although the AC-130 scene does give you a very cold, detached feeling (Unintentional though that may be) - you're still fighting the enemy forces.

That's the first I'd heard of this scene. I hadn't planned to pick it up at release due to the pricing anyway, but this certainly doesn't make me want to get it any quicker.

Cos what the gaming industry needed is MORE controversy, more media saying "videogames are bad" and more murders/etc blamed on the industry.

It's not brave of them to include this, for my money it's bloody stupid. Does Uncharted 2 do anything controversial? No. Is it a worse game for that? No!

Good games should not need to court controversy.

Seriously though, it is a very uncomfortable scene yet there's far worse out there. It's a videogame at the end of the day, plain and simple. There's always going to be controversies over these types of immoral things, but in reality shooting a citizen within the boundaries of a videogame is far less controversial then taking a real gun and shooting someone. If this scene makes players feel awkward and uncomfortable, and even not wanting to play, then surely that's a good thing?

I'm intrigued to know which scenes in games out there are worse Ad? I mean, let's ignore the Manhunt games, if only because they are rubbish, but which scenes are you referring to?
